thank you, Wise, for sharing these lovely pictures with us. A beautiful lady and a beautiful animal. We can see the softness in Perry's face; he looks so gentle and kind. He will always look after Cindy.

Now I'm sure that Perry is the four-legged gentleman we saw in his final days of training last month. Even then, I just knew he would be special to someone -- and it feels so good to know who he was trained for!

To you, Wise, Cindy, and Perry -- May this be an even more special and wonderful holiday season for you!

Thanks for the warm replies. Perry definitely is a special dog..and for a special person. He certainly is alert and intelligent and handsome and gentle and kind...and nosy, so Cindy says. Yes, he also looks after Cindy very well. Sometimes when I'm observing them walking I will think he's made a mistake, but usually he is letting Cindy know that he's not sure exactly where she wants him to go, so he will pull up to the point in question and let her decide, i.e., in the building she works there is a turn where on the left is a corner that sticks out...on the right the wall zig-zags (weird description, but true). Perry pulled up to a corner in the zig-zag and let her tell him to go forward so he'd be sure...it probably looks like a good place to turn left to him. Anyway, he's brilliant, of course.

When I take some photos of my own, I'll post some more over in Karlynn's thread for animal pics....because I hope some more of you do too.

To all of you who have shared Cindy and Perry's journey so far...many thanks for your love that showed through.

Hi Wise and Cindy

Just saw your pics of Cindy and Perry.....CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm sure you're glad they're home and doing well. How are the other furbabies doing with him.... He's quite the stunning boy, you know!!! I wish you and Cindy many years of good service and lots of enjoyment with him. I'm sure he'll do everything you need and more.

Please give Cindy our best on her new pupper. She certainly looks happy in that photo.

The other furbabies are doing fine. Our small dogs like him, but are warming up slowly. Our cats like him, one from a distance, the other one up close and personal - he likes to weave around his legs and walk under him and rub against him - he'll probably be curled up with him before too long.

Hey Wise.....Please tell your wife and Perry....

Yes, Mindy, I'm very proud of her. She is very good with him; they make a great team. Also, Perry continues to amaze me. Example: we went to the Christmas service at our church. Being a mega church it has large parking lots. So, we parked a ways from the building being that the handicapped parking was all taken. I looked around to remember where our car was. At the end of our row was a perpendicular row of cars in handicapped parking; we went between a purple van and a truck, then proceeded down steps and still a little ways to the church. So, when we came back to the car we were trying to figure out about where to turn when suddenly Perry stopped. He had positioned us to turn between the same purple van and truck. So, I said, "Well, I think Perry knows where we're supposed to turn." We couldn't believe he remembered that.

Wonderful, compassionate story. I've seen these dogs work and they are amazing! I'm sure you are so thankful to have Cindy & Perry home. Have a great 2006.

Perry is amazing! I know parking lots are difficult for the blind and for the dogs.

This thread is so interesting. Do keep us posted on Cindy and Perry. Perhaps, Cindy will join this thread?

We've been kind of busy lately and Perry is still amazing. I've had to back off of petting him...he seems to like me :)D ) and that sometime distracts him if I'm around when he's working. Here's another picture of the big guy taking a beauty nap this afternoon.

Wise,

Looks like he has made himself at home already. Amazing story about the parking lot. Please keep us posted.

May God Bless,

Danny

Danny, he is definitely "at home" here. He repeated himself last Sunday in the parking lot but this time there were different cars in the spot he stopped at than when we first got there, but we went with him and sure enough it was the row our car was in. Smarty pants. He has disentery (?) probably from drinking from a yucky mud puddle...I had to get up twice and clean up a mess during the night, besides the extra trips outside during the night. We're tired. He seems to be getting better after starting his meds this morning.

Reporter to interview Cindy

Reporter to interview Cindy

Guide Dogs for the Blind, where Cindy & Perry went to school, sent a press release to our local newspaper. They are sending a reporter to Cindy's workplace tomorrow to interview her. When they publish it I will send a link to the paper's website.

I have two excellent pictures of my girl and her dog, but I am awful working with pictures. I'm having a terrible time resizing them. If I figure it out I will post them.
