I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio for the first 35 yrs of my life.
Then General Motors transferred me to Michigan and we have been here for the last 32 yrs.
My wife was born and raised in North Canton, Ohio, Ross's hometown.
I must admit I do miss Ohio and a lot of the really good people there.
Go Buckeyes!!

Hi There !

Hi There !

I was born in Zimbabwe ( then called Rhodesia ) and we are now living in NZ
Best wishes to you all
Wendy

Nothing unique here -- Born in Chicago, grew up in Chicago, Only a short time away while "wearing green clothes" then married and raised our family here in, you guessed it, Chicago. Will probably always maintain our official residence in this area.

Guess I'm a Chicagoan!

Born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany (military), spent a few years in Kentucky, and spent the rest in Southern Indiana, the good ole Hoosier State.

Born and raised in Hicksville --- New York that is, no really there is a town named Hicksville and it's in LI NY. One son was born there as well. The wife is from Cartagena, Colombia and the other son was born in Georgia. Now of course we all live in a hicks-ville in Georgia.

101 votes so far. Last time I had looked, it was 92. If we hit 150, we should have a fair idea of where many of our posters live. :)

My mom made me vote! She is ruthless!

Don't we know! :D

Nice of you to support your Mom's efforts. We'll be expecting her to give us a full statistical report once the poll is ended.

They say we are in Southern Illinois. I think anything south of Cook County in Illinois is Southern Illinois. I feel more like we are southwest but anyways. We live about 10 minutes from Downtown St.Louis but on the Illinois side of the Mississippi river. :D

Where is everyone from?

Where is everyone from?

I am originally from The Netherlands. Born in a little town called Doornspijk, grew up in a yet smaller town/village called 'tHarde in the province of Gelderland.
Immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1968 and lived in Barrie, twin cities Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge, (called Galt at the time). Moved back to The Netherlands in 1973 but packed my things again in 1976 and immigrated back to Ontario, Canada. In 1977 I met my second husband and moved south to beautiful Tucson AZ. and am here to stay.
I hate moving.

I grew up in Central Illinois (Normal), went to college at Il State U. with a bunch of Chicago area kids. My husband grew up in the Chicago area. I always tell him that people in the Chicago area are shocked when they look at a map of Illinois and see all the land to the south of Chicago.

My town had 2 universities, 4 corporate headquarters and the most millionaires per capita of any town in the USA when I was growing up. To hear the "commuters" from Chicago talk - I grew up in Little House on the Prairie.

Wow! I looked at the names of all who have voted, and Mr.Billie from N. Ireland has even signed in!!!Glad you did, Billie!
And Karlynn, I use to laugh when people asked me if I lived in Springfield. They thought southern Illinois only extended as far south as the state capital!

Last night's tornado that struck S. Indiana, N. Kentucky, and SW Ohio made me wonder again where everyone is located. I resurected this thread to take a look at the locations members had posted.

My guess is the members who would be most affected are Sherry, ccrawford,
momshell7, and Hayden. Geebee has posted that they got severe storms in Ohio, but I think they escaped the damage that hit the other areas.

I don't know if the poll is still open, but if it is, I'd like to encourage new members to vote for their location.

Hayden should be too far south to be affected and momshell7 too far north. I am not sure about ccrawford but I am really worried about Sherry as she was right in the path. I think Sherrin Hut was also in the area. We were in the path also but the tornado ran out of steam before it made it to Cincinnati (and no others formed) so we lucked out this time. I am not looking forward to tonight as it is lining up to be another "Sleepless in Ohio". Hope to hear from Sherry & Sherrin soon.

There is also a Hicksville in Ohio. :D :p Go figure what anyone would choose that for a name but they did. Apparently at least twice.

We didn't get much of a storm at all. It thundered a few times but that is about it, other than lots and lots of wind.

Our yard is now covered in leaves, but unfortunatly they aren't from our trees. OUR stubborn trees still have most of their GREEN leaves!! They just have to be the last to turn every year. I guess they fit in with all the stubborn people who live in the house. :p

Colorado native!

Colorado native!

My ancestors have been in Colorado forever.... well almost. They all moved here in days of covered wagons. My fathers side came from Kansas, my Mom's from Oklahoma.

We still own the ranch my parents bought almost 60 years ago. They made the down payment on the first acreage with my Dad's war bonds.

Cool poll!! It is neat to see at a glance where everyone is from. Also interesting to read the notes they have posted.
