Santa dropped off two tickets to see Cirque du Soleil's performance of "Varekai" here to Tampa Bay. It's here for a limited time and it's amazing. Will

Ross,
What a nice looking family you have! I'm glad you received the camera so you can take pictures of them to show us.

I'm glad Donna's son came home when he did. Any homecoming is wonderful, but especially one on Christmas Eve.

One of our twin sons came in on the 23rd to celebrate Christmas with us. His twin brother and his fiancee will be here tomorrow. Our daughter, son-in-law and grandbaby are spending the holidays with the in-laws this year. Santa brought me a diamond ring for my right hand. It's beautiful! It's a combination Christmas gift and anniversary gift. Steve and I have been married 34 years today! We were married on Dec. 26, 1971 during winter break from college! LINDA

Nice!

Nice!

Ross, Very nice to see the pic of you all. I can understand your favorite gift! One of my brothers didn't come to our Christmas dinner, so he could stay at home with a nephew that's in the Marines. He did 18 months over there, came stateside for a year, and is about to go back. Please thank your son for his service for me. Thank you and your wife for raising a son that chose to serve! Your VR Bro, Brian

WOW...great piccy there Ross...what gorgeous boys you have...how old are they ?...they look close in age.

I am waiting for the day to come when our 3 are taller than me too..its getting closer everyday!:D

And you even cracked a smile for us...

I'm with you Lyn...
I sympathise as a fellow mum of 3 boys...hope you have a girl cat or dog...:D

Thanks for sharing....

and to those who had distant family members contact or be reunited this year what a terrific gift...

Glad to hear that everyone had a good holiday! Ross, thanks for the great shot of your family. Lyn looks abit outnumbered to me......

Good of you to post the note from Donna. Good to be reminded that there are so many people out there sharing their family members in the armed service so that we may have a peaceful holiday at home.

As for me, it was a lovely day. Got some lovely books (one a collection of letters from women through the centuries), a great Wizard of Oz DVD (well, as you can see, our beloved little dog IS Toto!) March of the Penguins (I haven't seen it yet) and a little iPod shuffle so that I can be distracted and breeze more comfortably through all the tests I suspect I'll be headed for soon.

Ross. I got a cute little Olympus for my 50th birthday 2 years ago. If you register the camera online, they should give you an option to get emails with helpful hints. They are very useful. You can find your camera online at Olympus.com and they give great tips and instructions.....things you would never know your camera can do! Our daughter has a Canon. THAT website is superb!! You can learn alot and really get those photos looking like you hope they would!

My photography teacher, my dad, was over for Christmas dinner. As he repeats himself endlessly and forgets so much, my kids were getting discouraged. So I dragged out an old (I do mean ancient, too) prayer book he had bought from a monk in a secluded African monastery, hoping he could tell the story. He couldn't remember and my son was visibly upset. So I brought out Dad's old photo journal (black and whites pasted on 5 ring paper in an old government issue hard bound notebook!) of his work in Africa (in the 1950's). We never got the monastery story, but he talked for an hour about helping farmers and villagers plant and irrigate and improve their lives. Photos are worth a thousand words......so keep that camera in your pocket and have it primed and ready......you'll have great fun with it!!

Best wishes, everyone!!

Marguerite

Marguerite - what a touching story about your Dad. That's wonderful that his pictures allowed him to recall and tell stories.

I also have an Olympus digital. I got it over 4 years ago for our first trip to Europe. It's a 3 mp and takes great photos. I've blown some up to 8 x 10 and given them as gifts. It's still working great. Most of the photos I've posted here have been taken with that camera.

What a great looking family. You must be so proud!

I'm also thankful that Donna's son got home in time for Christmas. We had a young man from our church get home about a week ago but another one is still there. My prayers are with all our service men and women at this time.

I'm just catching up today. Sounds like everyone had a pretty good Christmas.

Ross, your family is great.

I got most of what I requested - watch, electric carving knife (not good - too big for my hand and too heavy; I'll have to go find another), 10# weights, tempurpedic pillow.

I present I DIDN'T want is the intestinal upset/flu stuff that's going through my family; I feel like a big target - haven't gotten it yet but I'm convinced it's just a matter of time. My s/i/l and younger grandson have it now, as does my mother (who's visiting me); my older grandson had it a few days ago. ARGH. Apparently it's running through the community - had a blurb about it on the TV.

And my older daughter is pregnant again (woohoo) and my younger daughter is engaged.

Pretty darn nice Christmas.

Follow-up to last post: hubby just joined the upchuck gang. Oh, woe . . .

How long is it going to be there. Son/wife need some down time and I bet they'd love to go. They live in Bradenton/Sarasota area.

Marguerite,

Your Dad sounds much like my Gramps the last few months or so before he died. He would continuously forget things...and repeat things over'n'over again. Yet, when Mom and Dad showed him pics of our family trips ... or of anyone in the family ... he would instantly be able to talk and talk and talk about things. It was absolutely amazing. The last time we were all together (Thanksgiving Day), my sis and her hubby showed the DVD of their wedding ... Gramps spotted several people he knew and was thrilled to see it..... Heh, even when I called him every Sunday, he knew exactly who it was....

*sighs*

It's been a rough month....

:) :) We received a beautiful Grandaughter 6 weeks early. 5 Lbs 11oz. And her mother was also given back to us after a very touch and go week in ICU. We have so much to be THANKFUL for this year. Stuart's new heart!!, My mother BEAT uterine cancer! Our 11 yr old has most of his hair back from his war with alopecia and auto immune issues. Just so very Grateful that our children and Grandchildren are all healthy and that we have such wonderful friends and neighbors. We are truly Blessed. We wish all of you the best in the New Year to come!!!

Ross,

I am surprised everyone else let you get by (well, maybe because of the season) but I want to know------after that picture, when do you get the camera out of the shop???????:D :D :D :D

Seriously (me serious, ha, ha, ha, ha:rolleyes: ), great family you've got there. Bet those boys kept (and probably still) y'all on your toes.:D :D Enjoy that camera. The best camera my wife ever had was an Olympus digital. Unfortunately someone decided they liked it more that we did and "borrowed" it off our table during a wedding reception. She now has a Kodak.

From the postings, seems like the VR.COM family did alright. I got a "rain check" for a portable hard drive to take to the daughter's to download updates and programs I can't download here because of my snail mail land line hookup. The wife got two "grandma" sweatshirts, gift certificates, etc. The best thing is we received was spending Christmas morning with two of our three grandkids. We got a phone call from the other granddaughter that night.

Georgia,

Hope you didn't sneeze into the computer screen. I feel a tickle in my throat.

Marguerite,

Beautiful story about your Dad. We are beginning to go through the same experience with my 85 year old Mom. We never know WHO we will be visiting when we go to the nursing home.

To all,

May God continue to bless each and every one of you and provide us all a healthy, uneventful 2006.

May God Bless,

Danny

Georgia,

Santa left that same bug in the bottom of my stocking as well. Began Christmas night, 103+˚ that night and the next day (couldn't keep ibuprofen or even water down). Still bouncing between 97˚ and 100˚ today, but certainly feeling much better than that first day.

Possible new outdoor heaving distance record after racing across the living room to the front door on Monday, when it became apparent I would not make it to the regular facilities. Poor flowers. Their spring awakening will bring them a most unpleasant surprise...

Best wishes,
