Hi All, I read someones post earlier where they said they were having problems with ''floaters'' in their vision since their op. Iv always had some floaters but about 3 months ago I flew to England to visit my sister and I suddenly had TONS of them, where they almost interfere with my vision. Some days I can ''feel'' them in my right eye. I havent been worried about them, as I always thought they were harmless, but having seen it mentioned post op Im wondering is this connected to my mv problem ??

Hi,

My wife and my mother inlaw have floaters. I cant tell you what they are but I know they are something the DR said they must live with. They are worse at times and then seem to ease up.

Good luck with yours......they seem to just be a bother more than anythig else.

There is much discussion about floaters, grey curtain, occular migraine, visual disturbances...... a search on any of these terms will bring you many people's experiences with them.

They should not be a problem. They are not dangerous or degenerative. You can learn to avoid some of the triggers (as you would if you had a headache type of migraine).

The main concern is to differentiate it from a TIA which is more like a mini-stroke. While your physician would be the very best person to ask for advice about the differences, please know that if any of these episodes are accompanied by slurred speech, or substantial numbness anywhere on your body, you need to talk to a medical person right away. Otherwise, just know that these episodes have a lifespan (for me, 23 minutes to the second for umpteen years, now) and you simply have to experience them and let them pass.

Good luck. Please do a search and read up on other's exprieences, there is some good information.

I've had "floaters" for years now, but not nearly as many as since the surgery. When I saw a corneal specialist for my dry-eye syndrome, he said they are white blood cells in the occular fluid.

I've asked my cardiologist whether my dry-eye syndrome is related to my heart issues, and he said there is no evidence that it is. But now I'm starting to think my theory wasn't so farfetched after all.....
