...and the best part about today's Cubs victory ... it came on Ryne Sandberg Day, retiring #23. It was a great day ... and they played the 2nd of the 2 HRs that put Ryno on the map during the famous "Sandberg game" (2 game-tying HRs off Bruce Sutter on June 23, 1984).

I'll be at the game tomorrow (Monday) night against the Dodgers ... the favorite team of one of my Uncle's in California. Then, next weekend, my parents will be attending the Cubs/Pirates game in Pittsburgh ... a game against my Dad's favorite team. he he he.

Andrew,
Good luck ... thoughts/prayers continue coming you and your family's way! Perhaps when you are feeling better us Chicago area people can plan a gathering...and have you and your family join us, if you like.

Andrew is home!

Andrew is home!

WE ARE HOME! That is enough isn't it? We got released close to six and I can't believe how much stuff we had to bring home. I came to Children's with my phone and a journal i keep. I was expecting a call and wanted to note some stuff. (I received that call in the ambulance on the way to Children's) What a week. Last Monday at this time Andrew was on the ground at school getting revived. Praise the LORD he is still here with us.

Now we are home and I look at things that need doing and wonder where I will find the energy and will to do them. Just looking at all my e mails seems like a big job.

I got Andrew's new Medic Alert bracelet ordered and it should be here by next week. Had I mention that I was glad I hadn't gotten around to ordering him a new one since his previous surgery. I was dragging my feet since I had just bought that one in April and it was obsolete since it said he had a mechanical valve and was on Coumadin and he no longer was. Now we have new changes again. I think it says tricuspid valve replacement, defribrulator, cc-TGA, allergic to Sulfa and Anceph, Takes B Blocker. Good thing we went with the larger emblem. :-D The rep who helped me was so good and patient.

Guess I will try to put a picture or two up today if I get a chance.

It felt SO good to sleep in my own bed. Home sweet home!

heart hugs from the whole gang here

PS Kerry Wood had to cancel yesterday so no regrets at all!

Thank you again

Thank you again

We are just hanging around doing nothing. Andrew is doing well at that. We watch a DVD we go on the computer. I look at all the stuff on the couch that still need to be put away. MOM!!!!

I only checked on Andrew once last night. He was still alive so I went back to sleep. I will probably be like that for a while. it was good to see some posts here and see all the good that is happening.

I will soon be back to following a bit more soon. Right now I am just resting.

I do need to change our siggy here but it can wait.

So glad you are home. Wishing you all happy and uneventful days and years to come! Relax and enjoy- everything will get done eventually. :)

Yesterdays visit went very well. Andrew is doing fine. Everything is still in place and his ICD/pacemaker check went well. We increased his beta blocker a little and we turned down his pacing to 70's for the lower parameters.

It was good to see old friends and I was happy to hear one of my heart friends might be going to the floor today! Way to go! Andrew got to see some of his friends in PICU and I think everyone was glad to see him up and doing so well. Much nicer to be there as a "visitor" :-D

Andrew goes back to school Tuesday. Things are going back to normal at last! But I am sure i will never take another day for granted. Each one is a gift. Each hour with my family and kids is priceless.

We unfortunately missed Joel game. We were doing okay time wise when believe it or not the car wouldn't start after stopping for some gas. ($2.99 WOW best deal we came across.)Randy went in to get some drinks for us and the other boys and when he tried to start the car- nothing!

The battery had cracked some and the acid had eaten through part of the casing. By the time he had walked across to the Walmart, which was fortunately close by, and gotten the old one out, it had taken close to two hours.

I just missed seeing Joels last hit but next week we will not miss! The boys did go with Dad to a local HS football game but left before it was over. Dad goes to work VERY early! Sounds like they had a blast.

So all looks good. Andrew's tickers ticking and the van has a new battery. Now if the gas prices could just drop a little.

All kidding aside I feel very sorry for the victems affected by hurrican Katrina. I cannot imagine the horrors they have and are going through. Much prayers for them and for those of us who can help them to do what we can.

heart hugs,
Wendy

Wendy,

I am very glad to hear that Andrew is getting better. You, Andrew and the rest of your family will continue to be in my prayers. I hope that you are also able to get some much needed rest.

Karl
