Sounds very painful. I'm sorry to hear about this. I take Fosamax and Calcium, 'cause one of my meds causes osteoporosis.

Gina,

Gina,

Sorry to hear about your accident and the problems it created for you. My sister was just diagnosed with bone loss through her dentist! She is only 44 years of age. I highly suspect I will have bone loss also as I have a small frame like my Granny who broke her hip later in life - she was standing and just twisted her body and went down with a broken hip. She recovered and did great afterwards though.

And as for running "towards" Ross - are you crazy???!!

Seriously, all of us gals on Vr.com are charasmatically drawn to Ross and he just doesn't want to believe it. Ross, you are irresistible!!

Take care Gina -

Christina L

Sorry to hear of your fall...Hope you will recover quickly. It must be old home week for us gals on coumadin and bone aches. I had a shot of cortisone 2 weeks ago for a stiff, aching shoulder.Pulled it on an exercise machine.:p :p Then a few days ago, my right hand started tingling. Not hurting, ect...Thought it was too much being on computer..:D But, then I was sitting and rubbing my arm above my wrist and hit a sore spot...Looked closely and saw a faint yellow spot..so, I go back to Orth surgeon today. He walked in and said, how is your shoulder? I laughed and said, the cortisone shot did the trick but now, I have tingling in my right hand.DX was, I must have brusied it really bad and the nerves are being affected in my hand..Gave me a wrist brace to wear.Have it off now, while I am typing..Clumby to wear it..but will at night. he said, the tingling should be gone in another week...I have had a bone scan..No osteoporosis. My INR has been a perfect 3.0 for 2 weeks in a row...I have no memory of banging my wrist? Could have been something as simple as hitting a desk, table, ect. I'm chalking mine up as getting old and clumsy.:D :D Hubby says, I'm always in a hurry...........B/T/W..the office was packed with all sorts of people and their banged up limbs, necks, hip, ect.Saw lots of casts and neck braces.. Thank goodness there are 15 doctors in that practice.:p Bonnie

So sorry to hear about your fractures and tendon. I too take fosamax for osteoporosis bone density tests show it's been helpful over the past year. I finally just recovered from a broken bone in my foot, and am still using a bone growth stimulator every night to strengthen the bone. It seems to be doing it's job. I first thought the "cast" wouldn't slow me down, but eventually came to my senses. I finally interpreted the whole foot adventure as a message to slow down and learn once again to appreciate and accept people's offers of help. (It also allowed me more time to spend on the internet. LOL) I hope your bones and tendon heal fast and completely with no surgery necessary. Good luck in your recovery.

Thanks so much for all your good wishes. I decided to spend an hour soaking in the tub since it may be a few weeks before I get to do that again. I am trying to be positive about this and stop and smell the roses. Might be a little hard to pick one up with crutches but.......

Karlynn, you are right. Heaven forbid it should be my wrists and I would be unable to write. Might make a few people happy tho.;) :D

Off to the tub. No comments from the peanut gallery now.;) :)

So sorry to hear about your injury! I hope you heal quickly! I worked with a girl who had a cast she could swim in (she had a pool and it was summertime) only problem with it was she had to spend hours drying it with a blow dryer when she was done swimming! The time will fly!

Update

Just wanted to let you all know that I am firmly entrapped in fiberglass from my toes to my knee. This is the second cast since Wednesday. The first one was put on too loosely and was causing movement and pain. This one has been on for about 2 hours and feels so much better.
Also, for anyone who is or finds themselves facing a need for crutches - forget them. Go for this product which looks a little odd using but makes things so much easier: http://www.roll-a-bout.com Disclaimer: I get no kickbacks or have any monetary interest in this company (although maybe I should).;) :D ;)
I was working today and able to make copies, do filing, get and carry my lunch, etc. etc.
This is all a big pain (no pun intended) but not needing crutches is wonderful.

Why didn't they put you in a walking cast? I've had two broken ankles, and I was in a cast from knee to toes, but the cast had a heel on it, and I walked. I never used crutches after I was casted.
That device looks good, but it's still gotta be a pain!

Why does that rollabout look dangerous to me? I should come down there and harrass you since you can't run from me now.

Since I have 3 fractures and a torn tendon, she did not want me putting any weight on my foot. We are trying to prevent the need for surgery and, apparently, putting weight on the foot could cause something to heal incorrectly.
You are right - it is a pain but still better than crutches.

And, Ross, I am getting pretty fast on the "scooter thingy" so I might be able to go faster than you. However, you are welcome to try.;) :D

Gina, I'm so sorry to hear about this mishap. Mary actually said something about it at dinner the other evening. I haven't been on the boards much lately because of work and missed it. Hope you heal quickly.

SSssssssssp Ross- I got a plan......

You talk to her and tell her you won't chase her. Then while your keeping her attention, I'll sneak up behind her and grap her in a bear hug- then we can give her all our kisses and she can't run away- just like we did on the playground. Okay?

Just don't tell her, okay?
Okay.

OKAY!:D

Gina, good to hear you are betting about reasonably well...and without crutches. Still hoping for a quick and complete healing for your foot. Best wishes.
