I have on my red today to support Womens Heart Awareness. My husband is the one that had AVR but I am supporting all the women who have gone through what he has and hoping that doctors are finally realizing that men aren't the only ones with heart problems.

IT WAS NOT MEANT TO OFFEND ANYONE. Today is National Wear Red day to increase awareness that Heart Disease is the number one killer of women in America. I apologize if anyone misunderstood why I am wearing red.

Excuse me, but I don't see how been Lady in red you are going to help with heart disease awareness!
Nobody will know why you are in red.
If you want to do something for that awareness, you could P eg. go to Denny's and talk to the people about to devour bombs of cholesterol out of it, or go to a tobacco store and convince somebody to quit smoking, or give some blood!:)

What does Naif mean?

naif

adj : marked by or showing unaffected simplicity and lack of guile or worldly experience; "a teenager's naive ignorance of life"; "the naive assumption that things can only get better"; "this naive simple creature with wide friendly eyes so eager to believe appearances" [syn: naive] [ant: sophisticated]

I am far from naive about life. I am 55 years old and I do give blood and I watched the husband I have been married to for nearly 39 years go through open heart surgery and nearly lost a daughter at birth and a grandson. I am not as eloquent as you but I don't put people down for whatever they do to bring awareness to other people about whatever you are passionate about.

As you dislike a small controversy... OK wear red!
But for the awareness stuff you could organize a demonstrarion in front of Pharmacies like Walgreens or CVS, where they sell medicins and cigarrettes!!

Even if wearing a color does nothing for the immediate, it will long term. Think of the pink ribbons that everyone has. Or the Lance Armstrong Yellow bracelet. It all started with a few people trying to raise awareness, by wearing a silly bracelet, or putting a sticker on their car. It worked too!

I think its great! I wish I knew, I would have worn red also. Good for you! :)

Thanks Terry for the reminder. When I see people that I know, I will say why I'm wearing red. No chance of a misunderstanding that way!:)

And Daniel, great idea about organizing a rally! I don't know if you want to give it a try today, but you've got plenty of time to start working on one for next year!:)

I believe that when people join together for a good cause, cynics and naifs alike, we all benefit!:)

Go, Red!

Daniel:
When you came here you were welcomed by people who accepted you and tried as hard as they could to assist you with your concerns. Nobody put you down nor did any of us judge you by using pejorative adjectives. We were not rude to you. So how is it that you feel so proud in insulting us with your rudness?

The next time you decide to try to put someone down here, may I suggest that you do some research, for your post was certainly written by someone with the competence of ignorance...you. Perhaps the following will enlighten you. You might even want to apologize.

The above was taken from the American Heart Assocication site. Every year they sponsor "National Go Red for Women Day" in February. This isn't something new. It's been celebrated for several years. Women and men are asked to "Go red for women" by wearing red. Across the nation, many companies sponsor this day and encourage their employees to wear red. Everyone in my branch bank office is in red today. If you look around, you might see alot of red too. If I were you, my face would be red right about now.

It's not too late for you to put on a red shirt.

Have a nice day.
Blanche

Here, here! ! I am wearing my red today and I just got back from Wal Mart and the grocery store and there were many people dressed in red for National Red Day, and I'm sure they knew why they were wearing red.

Like Mary said, "GO RED!"

Well said Cooker!!!!!

And you go Terry! Wear your red with pride!
Any awareness for CHD's and heart disease is good awareness!

R U Naif Enough?

R U Naif Enough?

I don't want to be rude, but

Anytime one feels the need to preface a comment with the aforementioned quoted phrase, the comment that follows IS, in fact, rude. Of course, we should give the benefit of doubt in this case and presume that the author of this particular comment (while naif, perhaps) truly did not wish to actually be rude by making an inherently rude statement. Surely we red-wearers can be naif enough to swallow that notion, can't we?

Love it!

Love it!

I love to see the debate! At least we're talking about gender differences in heart disease!
