All the best Steve. We will look forward to hearing from you. I think it's time to shoot for a breakfast for lunch outing with the local crew!

Seems we are both ending our waiting. I'v ebeen waiting for over 12 years now - but only on the forum for the last year+ . It's a scary feeling knowing that the 'time' is here, but on the other hand a relief to get it behind me. Good luck to you!!!

Rhena, I find it somewhat of a relief to just know that I no longer have to micro-manage my health in watching for subtle deterioration that would indicate that it is time for surgery. At least THAT milestone has been met. Now on toward choosing a surgeon, hospital and valve. . .

John - Well, let's see. . . what I learned at Northwestern:
1. They are often a bit behind schedule in all departments
2. The place is massive
3. The parking lot ticket system doesn't work right
AND a whole lot more -- I will start a new thread to consider my two surgeon consultations in some detail.

What other hospital/doctor did you consider beside McCarthy?
What is your opinion, now that you've been through it all?
