Hi

should be stenosis OR occlusion ...

a recent CT scan has shown that I've now got the left brachlocephalic vein occluded since the surgery. This was not the case before surgery (comparing to CT scans.

I wonder how often this occurs?

Has anyone else had a major vein play up after surgery?

I certainly haven't Pellicle, so I can't be much help in that regard but in the reading up on this condition it sounds like function can be readily restored through revascularization using an appropriate sized catheter and then stenting.

Pellicle you are truly the 'Murphy's Law' person on this forum - anything that can go wrong, will go wrong . . . .

Do you have any symptoms from this or was it just an observation?

BTW I spent several minutes trying to figure out what a 'stenosisor' was before I opened the thread. I thought maybe a type of tooth, like an incisor. :)

yup

it was firstly an observation (coming from an investigation to identify if there are any abscesses beneath the sternum), but I have (coincidentally?) been observing since the surgery that I'm "tight in the chest" when doing exersize and I have never been before. They said it "may be something due to the infection".

or the stenosis ...

hmm ... my searching showed nothing like this ... I probably overcomplcated the search criteria .. don't still have some of the links you uncovered do you?

My only lasting vascular "item" is that I have some numbness in my left breast around where my pacemaker is implanted. We don't know if it is related to nerve damage from the pacemaker incision or if it is damage from a bypass procedure where they reconnected an artery from my left chest area to my heart. The doc's originally thought the numbness would go away in 6 months or so, but at nearly 2.5 years it is still there. No other impact on abilities, just numb to the touch, so I'll let it be.

Thanks for all the replies. Seems that it may not be a common complication

I wonder if it is related to the infection or the debridement operations

How long ago was your operation? It may not even be related. Could just be one of those things that are easily fixed.
I always harrangue doctors for information, to pre-empt my mind from wandering.
