Nancy-
Glad to read the updates on Joe. You are in my thoughts and prayers as always. Hopefully, you will be getting the answers you need very soon. Take care!:)

My prayers are still with you and Joe, I remember those daily weight-in, it's a habit now.

That was the hardest thing with me , getting those meds regulated, my family didn't want me home to soon either, something about that 24 hour care that helped them sleep at night.

keep us updated when you can,

Morning Nancy:

I am sure you must be getting a bit tired with the running back and forth to the hospital. It is also very frustrating when you can't get concrete answers, particularly when you know as much as you do Nancy. There are just so many unknowns. It was interesting to see how Joe asked for oxygen. Whenever Wayne has not been good, the oxygen helps him a lot as well, even when the pulse-ox level is ok. I wonder why that is.

We are all thinking of you and Joe. And, wishing for a quick resolution/answer to this most recent incident.

Marybeth

Interestingly enough, Joe's room air oxygen level wasn't too bad, but he is still having some problems breathing. It might be old scar tissue (he's had lung surgery on both sides and a heart port procedure through one of the lungs). He has a pulmonary specialist working with him also. He's had several pulmonary tests, including checking for phrenic nerve damage. It only shows diminished abilities on that side, but the cause is not apparent. Tomorrow or the next day, they will be doing a bronchoscopy, just to make sure.

His PH seems to be responding to the medications, and they are increasing them slowly.

I'm pleased that the docs are going painstakingly slowly and very methodically. Joe's got some very complicated issues which have many cross over areas. One medication adjustment, could throw off some others, so they really have to go slow.

His CHF is being stubborn, but I'm sure when the right combination of drugs is found, everything will fall into place. Joe may not be in 100 percent health and he'll be on more medication, but I do feel that his quality of life will be better and with careful monitoring, I think we'll be able to get some enjoyment back into our lives.

Hows Joe

Hows Joe

Even tho I am a rookie one of the first things I look for when coming to the forum is,"Hows Joe?'. Add me to those pulling for him.

Mornin, Nancy - you will be off to the hospital soon, probably - if you aren't there already. Just checked in, as usual, to see if there is anything changed and to see Joe's progress. You take care of yourself. Hear? Will wait for the next report - God bless - Love, Ann

Hey Nancy:

Good to see the most recent post. Glad to hear the PH is improving, albeit slowly. Please let us know the test results when you can. Sayy hello to Joe, from all of us.

Marybeth

I too will be praying for Joe. You two have been through so much and I do hope things get better. I pray God is with the you joe and the doctors to get to the bottom of this as thoroughly as possible. You both will be in my thoughts. Love Peggy

Today brought some news I suspected, but really didn't want to hear and that was Joe's latest echocardiogram has shown abnormalities in his aortic and mitral valves. This is new since the echo in July of this year. The July echo was done the night that Joe had his very high temp (106.7). At the time the doctor was afraid of bacterial infection on his valves. I can't say for sure that this is the case, but there is a TEE scheduled for tomorrow. That should tell the tale. They will also be examining his pacemaker for signs of infection.

It would explain the sudden onset of all his symptoms, because nothing else was adding up into a solid picture, just bits and pieces of problems.

So keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Nancy - You are one of nicest people I know and I don't even know you. Of course I read enough to know you are a caring person. Sorry to see you are writing about Joe again. That poor guy just doesn't get a break. That's an awful high temperature. I just want you to know that I am on this long list of people who are praying for him.

Oh gosh, Nancy, that really isn't very good news. How is Joe taking it? I know you've both rolled with everything in the past, but frankly this is lousy. I remember when Joe was so sick this summer, and he had that high temp that they couldn't figure out what was happening. I know you will post after the tee today with the results. Oh crap, Nancy. Wayne and I will pray for you both. - Marybeth

SORRY to hear the nasty news.

As you know we are all pulling for you, wish we could do more than be cheerleaders.

Our best to you and JOE.

Hearts are heavy for you, Nancy - you know that. But we are here and sending prayers. Think of you often and pray that you are holding up as well as you can. Hang in there, Nancy -

I'm still praying for the both of you. I do hope they have an infectious disease Doc in on this. Sounds like Joe is going to have to have the super duty anti biotics like I did, if it is a serious infection. With a temp like that, have they packed him in Ice?

Love you both, so hang tough. :)

Nancy,

I have been thinking of you and Joe often. I hope you can feel all the love and concern from all your friends here. Wishing you and Joe the very best possible outcome.

--John

My thoughts and prayers have been, are, for you and Joe. I hope todays tests went well. Lynk

The test went well today, they took a good look. I don't have any results yet.

The high temp he had was in July of this year, sorry for the confusion. But that gives a nice long time for any bacteria to vegetate, if that's indeed the problem. During the high temp problem, he had Infectious Disease there immediately, and they tested him right away, then bombed him with somw pretty tough stuff. He was in the hospital for about 10 days, much of it in the ICU, but nothing showed up at that time.

If there's vegetation there now, the TEE should pick it up. Maybe I'm all wrong, but if I were a betting person, that's where my money would be.

Thanks again everybody, the support is very much appreciated.

You are great in keeping us all updated, you must be exhausted at the end of the day.

I hope the TEE come up with an easier diagnosis, and something that's just as easy to treat.
