I am reading some reports of an echo and was wondering if anyone has ever had their tricuspid valve AND their pulmonary valve replaced in the same surgery. The drs right now are focused on replacing my pulmonary valve however the echo from a few years ago shows moderat tricuspid insufficiency with moderately severe right ventricular enlargement and moderate right atrial enlargement. Would replacing a pulmonary valve alone be sufficient in reducing /eleminating the tricuspid insufficiency? I trust the doctors that I currently have however it seems odd to me that they are not suggesting a TVR as well. Let me know your thoughts.

I guess of course it depends but before Justin's last surgery His right ventricle was very enlarged and his right atrium was also very enlarged but it was because since the blood had trouble getting out of the right ventricle it was backing up in the right atrium, his right side pressures were higher than the left side. After they replaced the section of counduit attatched to his pulm valve the blood could leave the right ventricle so the right atrium was able to empty out and everything pretty much went back to normal.

THank you. This is what my hubby was saying possibly is what is happening. I guess we will have to wait until I hear from the dr.But it is reassuring reading your post that my trust in the drs isn't completly blind.

My understanding is much the same. Once you can get the pulmonary valve sorted out, it will help resolve a lot of the other issues - including tricuspid regurg, since the pressures that cause it will be reduced with a functioning PV. Of course, that decision will be one your doctor/surgeon will ultimately make depending on your own circumstances, but chances are you will only need the PV replaced.
