I'm the wimp who doesn't like pain. If I recall correctly, my surgeon pulled the tubes. Told me to bear down and out they came. Same as with the pacemaker wires. I don't recall any real pain, just the strange sensation of things happening inside my chest. Maybe I was already on pain killers.
