Sorry I misinterpreted what you were saying. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer a couple of months before my valve was replaced last time. It made recovery pretty hard, but allowed us to spend a fair bit of time together, which was a real treat. In fact, he and mum moved next door to us and dad lived there for 6 months before he died and mum lasted almost three years there. It was lovely and I wouldn't have missed a second of it. It was a little strange not having them around for my recent surgery (third time).
