Hi Guys and Gals,

Just wanted to touch base with yall and say that my father goes in for his heart catheterization on Tuesday morning and then we find out whether he will have bypass surgery or whether they will just put in stents and do an angioplasty. He is also going to be getting a pacemaker, but I haven't heard anything on this yet, but I wanted to keep yall informed so that If I am not on for a few days, that it's because I am with my family in W. Roxbury Ma, at the VA hospital or at Mass General in Boston. We are all really nervous and my dad is especially so, as I have been told that he is just as scared as I would be to have my chest opened up, so I am wondering if you all would keep him and my mom in your prayers as we get through this bump in the road? I want my father around to see his new grandbaby that's coming in May and have time to really enjoy the little one along with my mom. Thank You All in advance. Harrybaby:D  :D

Thanks for the opportunity to help. Your father and family have my prayers and hugs.

Hi Harry. Tell your dad he's not alone. I go in for my heart cath Tuesday morning also!! I started a thread about it since it gives me the heebie geebies. I'm not worried about the results (hey, they're going in anyway), but the test itself is just, well, I'm kind of a wuss about veinous things. Also, since I'm sensitive to iodine, now they have to premedicate me and that's abit weird. Shooting your heart full of something you're kind of allergic to  . But the cardio phoned and was as reassuring as ever so I know I'll be fine.

Would you mind letting me know what your father's first name is? I will definitley be "communicating" with him on Tuesday!!

Best of luck!! I'm banking on the notion that he will be bouncing grandchildren on his knee for a long time. :D

Even though they tell you that there are risks with the catheterization, it does go quickly and with my first one, I didn't feel a thing, with my second, the doctor just "ripped" the catheter right out and it did hurt to some degree, and the third one went just as well as the first one. I will be thinking of you when you go in on Tuesday morning as well, and pray that they don't have to do the same things that they may have to do with my dad. Your in my prayers as well!!! Harrybaby:D :D :D P.S. My dad's name is Richard Lowell Harrybaby

Harry! Did you have to tell me about the guy who ripped it right out of you??  Geez...... ;) Well, I'll tell them no hotrodding with me!!

Thanks, though, for more encouragement. I'll be half asleep from the benadryl when I get there and I know the happy juice works great on me, so I won't be around to worry by then!! I imagine the doctors will end up asking my husband, "so who is this Richard guy she keeps talking about......we thought your name was Paul!" I always wonder what kinds of conversations these guys go home to laugh about while we're all dreamy and confessional under the sedatives! But seriously, I will have Richard keenly in my mind in cath-connection!

:D Marguerite

Harry, and Marguerite, I will keep Richard and Marguerite in my thoughts and prayers on Tuesday. Hope all goes well for both! Brian

Harry...I will be praying for your Dad on Tuesday. Hopefully they will be able to use the stents and avoid OHS. My 55 year old brother had a heart attack just over a month ago and we were all sure he was going to need to bypass. When they did the cath, they found 4 major blockages but were still able to do angioplasty with stents. He left the hospital the day after and is doing really well.

Also best of luck to Marguerite for her Cath on Tuesday :)

Maureen

Keeping your Dad and Mageurite in our prayers- He needs to bounce that grandchild on his knee- one of the greatest rewards in life!

I sure will Harry. May your dad's cath go flawlessly and any proceedures they need to do also. Praying for peace for all of you and wisdom for the doctors.

Harry, I hope your dad has the best possible outcome. It's been years since I've visited, but I've got family in Roslindale just across the Parkway from W. Roxbury. I know exactly where to send all my best wishes for your dad! All the best to you as well, Marguerite! When I envision you in Oregon I think of Coos Bay, where other family members used to live--beautiful!

Ditto everyone, Harry - Richard and Marguerite both are in my prayers.

Marguerite, I was so scared of the cath the doc gave me ativan (good thing I was in the hospital - ativan makes me nuts). And they put me out completely for it and that was just fine.

Unkle Harry,

You are always in my prayers and I will add your Dad too. Hope he can avoid the OHS route and get the stents.

Marguerite,

At the risk of highjacking Harry's tread, I will be praying for your success too. Just try to stay on that 2 x 4 table they put you on, tell them to warm up the blankets and go to la-la land for a little while. It will be over before you know it. Please don't mention MY NAME!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D

May God Bless all of you,

Danny

I will be sending prayers out for Harrys' dad Richard and the family and for you too Margurite and your family...

I know its a bit of a scary one, but those drugs usually knock you out good if you get the same ones I have had :D ...

All the best for both of you on Tuesday...

Hope your dad can get some of those U-beaut stents and get it over and done with in one hit Harry....

I didn't know that!!

I didn't know that!!

Hi Harry! I always thought your dad would need a heart transplant and I'm happy to hear that it's not the case anymore. Of course I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers! Now, how's your health? Hope to see you on chat this evening though!
Take care!!
Débora

Oh, Harry, you bet...........
