Anna,

From what I've heard of waxing, I think I will pass. My son suggested "Nair for Men". I think I'm going to just go for tons of shaving cream and a gentle touch.

Marge,

Glad to hear you're doing so well. I am pretty calm about this, but then I don't get upset (visibly) about much. The difference between this and a jury trial is control. I get nervous before I start a trial, but once it starts, I am in control of the courtroom and it's my show! This time, I'm handing everything over to Dr. Faber and his team. I trust him, but it is a lot different feeling.

Bethanne,

Shaving on vacation is a real pain. Our last two major vacations were month-long camping trips all over the U.S. and Canada. We camp in our VW Eurovan, but that still means cold-water shaving or using the rechargeable shaver. So I usually get a little fuzzy :D

I guess I'll have to take a new picture for my avatar so everyone can see the real, close-shaven me! (my face, I mean
:p )

Bill,
Hoping I'm not stepping over any decorum lines here, but I think Sandy could work up a sexy little shaving routine to get the job done. It could be part of a grand finale evening as such interludes might need to be a bit curtailed over the next few weeks. Whatever, have fun with it!

Yeah, on second thought you are right. Lawyers are probably lawyers largely because they need to be in control. In trial you may not be in control of the whole shebang (there is that guy sitting up there on the bench) but you are fully in control of your part of it. I guess in this situation the analogy is more to being the CLIENT than the lawyer. I remember thinking during the period b4 the surgery, "Now I know what it's like to be the defendant," & I didn't like it. You have to sit back ans trust the doc, his crew, and the hospital. The difference is that you are unconscious I bet a lot of my former clients back when I was a PD woud have been happy to have been able to sleep through their case. But now I can truly say not just from hope & for encouragement, but from personal experience: Bill, you will be fine. See you on the other side of the mountain.

Good luck

Just wanted to wish you a bit of luck for tomorrow. I know how scarey it is but I am sure that you will do great!

One word of advice: do your breathing exercises no matter how much it kills you. You will be glad you did! :)

Good luck Bill with your surgery. Rest assured you go with lots of prayers and thoughts from all of us. See you on the other side of the mountain!

"God be with you. " ... Mark

Bill,

God speed tomorrow. Hope to see you back soon on the other side of the mountain.

I vowed to shave my beard when I get under 200 pounds. It has been hiding my jowels! Maybe next week.

Hello!

Just wanted to send my best wishes to you for a speedy recovery! And, add a note........I cannot imagine one of my children having this type of surgery, and not being there for them.
I love my children beyond words, and they are 29 and 31. I am confident your parents feel the same way. You are a good son to let them be the parents they want to be.

God speed on this journey.

Marybeth

And late afternoon on Februay 20th, Bill awoke....to the rest of his life.
Godspeed,
Sue

Bill-

I understand those control issues. The other day my thirteen year old commented, "Mom, you are so controlling." I always joke (with friends, not my child) that I am the teacher-mother from h***.

It was very hard handing over the control to the medical staff. I kept reminding myself that I had made a good choice in my surgeon. I prayed to be able to let go and put myself in the hands of God and the surgeon.

I'll be spending some time at the mock trial competition in Bowling Green, Ohio tomorrow. I'll be sending prayers directly from the Wood Co. Courthouse to CA. May all go well for you and your family.

Good luck
