The Curse of the BBs (Ladies Only)

Hi ladies,

I sure hope someone out there can help me with this very irritating, aggravating dilema I have found myself in. I have the curse of the BBs (Big ****s) and they are driving me crazy. Every movement rubs against my scar and keeps it irritated. I went back to work on Monday and have been in agony every day until I can get home and remove my bra. Yesterday I tried using gauze pads and paper tape to completely pad and cover the area and it worked somewhat until I start to perspire and then the tape loosens so that the pads then begin to rub. I have tried everything I know to do. I even went to this specialty shop and had them measure and fit me with a new bra so that I knew that wasn't the problem. Every step I take causes movement and thus causes discomfort.

Does anyone have any ideas? I would be ever so greatful!!!

Thanks
Carla

Carla,
Not having BBs, I haven't experienced this problem but as I read through your post I can clearly imagine how uncomfortable you must be. Surely this has happened before and your surgeon's office could make a useful suggestion. You seem to indicate that you get some relief as soon as you're able to remove your bra. I would suggest wearing camisoles instead plus the little pasties that are available for nipple coverage (office modesty being a concern) except if you're that heavy breasted going without support would seem contraindicated. My surgeon wants ALL his female patients to wear bras. Bottom line-call your surgeon. S/he should be actively interested in helping you solve this dilemma. Good luck!

Hi Carla,
hopefully someone can come along soon and offer some practical advice. I am waiting on a surgery date, but am a little anxious about this topic. I too suffer from the BB's and have been wondering how this was going to complicate matters....

Hi Carla,

I would think if you could keep them so 'snug' they couldn't move around to rub - then the problem would be solved. I wonder if an athletic bra might help. I know athletic bra's are pretty tight and my BB's don't move around much in those. But you generally have to put your hands over your head to get it on and its 'tight' generally as the tighter it is the less movement you have. Just a suggestion.

Good Luck
Marilyn

Thanks for the suggestions. The chamisole idea sounds wonderful, however, It wouldn't work cause I'd just hang out underneath!!. I am very heavy (which is the reason I constantly have some type of movement.

I have also tried the sports bra idea and they do not make them big enough. So here I am!

Thanks again for responding

Carla

What about the camisol bra-tops? I have a couple and they fit pretty snug through the bb area....I agree with Marilyn that if it's snug enough you won't bounce around too much. Great for layering, too. You can wear them peaking out of an outer shirt. Good luck!

Duct-tape;)

Really, I do sympathize. My incision is over the lower portion of my right breast and I had some major discomfort particularily at first. I used the little tops with the built in shelf for bras. I still do most of the time since thay are more comfortable. I had gotten some of the playtex bras that fasten in front but they still hit wrong.

Let us know if you find something that really works,

I don't have BB but I still had trouble with bras. I landed up wearing camisoles to work and baggy tops. It seems the bra would hit the scar and really cause some discomfort. There is still some times when it gets irritated especially where the fracture was. I bought 2 Playtex bras which seemed to be the best. No underwires and like a cotton material that hooks in the back. Nice and soft. Hope you find an answer.

Hi Carla-

Maybe if you get a bra with one cup smaller, but still the same band size, it wouldn't rest right on the sternum. I have a few which are too small and they have lots of space in the sternum area because the Bs keep the material away. You'll be popping a little at the top, but not too bad.

The ones I have are front closers and the hook and eye area seems to stay away pretty well. But then I don't have an incision to deal with.

The other idea is to have a camisole made out of Spandex with some shape to it, and tight around the diaphragm area. It would give a little support and keep things up where they should be.

a spacer?

a spacer?

OK - girls, don't laugh, but I'm plagued with IBB's (itty bitty ****s). Well, it was a plague until gravity started working on my friends who were more generously endowed and just pretty much bypassed me!:D

My suggestion - in trying to figure out why I didn't have much discomfort from wearing a bra - isn't because of the movement as much as because my ****s don't touch each other (that's right, girls - NO cleavage here other than from ohs). So perhaps a spacer - a rolled up hankerchief, perhaps, shoved between?

There's my contribution. Hope you get some relief.

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I can't help you with this problem, but thought you might enjoy this.

Take Care

Georgia, are you suggesting she 'stuff' her bra !!!

My sister use to stuff her bra. Remember the days when the tissue 'fell' out !! NOT ME - I was too busy doing 'flips' and 'splits' and could have cared less. But I have to admit I did try to improve my situation in aerobics class - when we would do the ole workout of pulling the elbows towards our backs and saying:

I must
I must
I must increase my bust.. Which if any of you ladies are inclined to try - I can attest to the fact that it never worked for me.

Take Care all you ladies
Carla - I hope you find a solution.

"Curse"?

"Curse"?

Reminds me of a true story. In the olden days when women wore "falsies" instead of getting gel inserts, a teenaged friend decided to give her bathing suit more appeal with some falsies. They worked great until she dived into the pool hiking the top of her bathing suit up. The falsies moved with the suit and not her, giving her an extra set. Her boyfriend said, "My you're looking healthy today" Her face turned beet red. :D

And then there was the other friend whose foam falsies ended up floating around the pool.

Try this

Try this

Sorry I cannot share in the BB problem mine are barely there, but if the sports bra didn't work, why not try an ace bandage? Like the kind you would wrap around an ankle. At least with the ace bandage you could control the tightness of it and it is thick enough not to allow the headlights to shine through.
If that doesn't work try to go to a dance supply store and find a leotard. You would have the inconvenience of a body suit but it would give you the coverage and support you need.
And if that doesn't work try a bathing suit store that sells "tankinies" you could wear the top part of it that has a built-in bra like support and will not be too noticable under you clothes.
Good luck,
let us know how you make out.

Don't know if I really have an answer to this, but I sure can sympathize with you. I went though most of my life with very large BB's which were very uncomfortable. (I am only 5' so I was quite out of porportion.) Six year ago I finally had a reduction done and my only regret is I didn't have it done sooner. I know this is not a good option for you since I'm sure the one thing you don't want is another surgery!!

It seems you have pretty much done all the things I would suggest--custom bra's being on the top of my list. I spent a lot of years wearing bras that were too big around in order to get a large enough cup size, and they just didn't fit right. I do know the main problem is trying to keep the BB's separated--I can't imagine having a scar there considering I had a permanent rash in that area from the constant chaffing.

Let me think about it some more and maybe I can come up with some other ideas.

To Runner:

I heard and did the "I must" . Didn't work for me either. As long as we are discussing ****ies, I might as well share my thoughts with all of you. After I had my surgery, my small ones seemed that they were misplaced. Went to put on a bra and they were too far apart. Guess this was from the sternum not healed and pulled back together. I asked the surgeon what he did with them and told him that he must have scared my girls because they were hiding almost under my arms it seemed. Hope you find something comfortable to wear.

Sure did. Ann

Sure did. Ann

Burned them all..and I have BB's..but dont't work in an office. Carla..Get the camisoles..with the built in top..Then invest in some great Jackets for work.:D :D Something comfortable.I have many now. Just throw on casual jackets for shopping, ect..and have a few for Dress-up...shed them when I come thru the door.:D :D then take off the camisoles..after work..and put on a nice big tee-shirt..:D :D Bonnie

Carla,
I had read about the camisoles Bonnie is talking about in a previous thread- things you would need after surgery. I found some at Costco and hope they will work for me. They are kind of cute and you could actually wear them under a shirt and leave the shirt open. Good Luck!
