Different strokes for different folks
I sent an email to our doctor (whom we adore). He said that he would prefer NOT to be called weekly by someone relaying our INR reports. We live about 1/2 mile from his office, so he as suggested that we come to his Coumadin Clinic, which uses the very same monitor that we have. Actually, I convinced him to open a Coumadin Clinic and helped him do that.
So, I called our Cardiologist, who also has a Coumadin Clinic...guess what? He also prefers to provide testing services in his office and would not care to deal with our Coumadin management. They have 18 doctors in the practice.
Albert has a 20 year relationship with both of these doctors. I have been with them for about 8 years. They are always available to us and we are totally satisfied with the treatment they have given us.
Incidentally, both of our doctors do have some patients on home testing. They are generally people who travel extensively and others who have unusual circumstances.
I would certainly love to know what the cost of strips is for people on Medicare. We have original Medicare with a supplement. If you have information on this, please send me a pm.
For now, we will keep "going along to get along." And, I will have to find some other area of my budget to reduce.
Thanks all,
Blanche
