Reimbursement on test strips
Reimbursement on test strips
When I had United HealthCare 2 years ago, my policy covered DME (E1399), but Raytel did not use that code on the test strips -- this occurred after someone at Raytel said it DID use E1399 on the test strips. Then I learned that I had to pay 100% for the test strips. I could have gotten a discount paying cash upfront instead, had I known.
I called UHC about the noncoverage and was told that it covered ONLY diabetic testing materials, not those for INR testing at home. Yes, it covered the tester, but not the testing supplies.
I have not asked my current insurer, Aetna, if it covers testing supplies. Just easier to hunt for the best price and buy them myself rather than deal with the vendor getting paid.
