Haley,

All other issues aside (with reputable artist, autoclaved instruments, sterile gloves, prophylactic antibiotics, close to good doctor, cardiologist's permission and knowledge, controlled air environments, inside you own home...)... Getting another authentic tribal tattoo in Bora Bora without any of the conditions described above sounds like a really terrible idea fraught with tons of risk and opportunity for infection.

I'm assuming you would be lying on the beach, exposing some skin to the sun (which you are not supposed to do with tattoos immediately after tattooing anyway) and sand and salt water.

All seems like really bad timing and very risky (and I'm a pretty adventurous person who isn't a worry wart).

I know you indicated you were going to abstain but I just thought I would reinforce with additional thoughts.

Have a good trip - and drink responsibly since you have coumadin now... Assuming of course drinking was part of the plan (I'm guessing because it would be for me...)

We all want to see pictures when you get back!
Hi there and not only am I NOT getting anymore tattoos....my French Polynesia trip was cancelled due to lack of funds however, it's now a trip to save for and count the days down to going (which is like 3 million I think ha ha):D Some day I will see Bora Bora again I hope. Thanks for the reinforcement on the tattoo idea and I hope your doing well and having a great winter season. Happy Holidays to you and all!

Here and here there are people saying it's ok to get a tattoo on warfarin, and both have examples of people who successfully had it done!:) So there's hope!

Sorry your trip got postponed, Imhayley!

Pink, just FYI incase you didn't know, but the owner of www.warfarinfo.com (your first link) is a member here. He's the best expert we know when it comes to warfarin management. Al Lodwick is the biggest reason that many of us are home testing and managing our own dosing successfully.

Hi Karlynn! I have a St. Jude mitral valve, too! I wish I could home test, my insurance won't cover the coaguchek.
