OK, so I have a bad thread and here is my good thread...
On Wednesday, the last day of final exams, one of my students brought me a beautiful cake that said, "Happy Valversary Mrs. N!" It had little hearts all over it, and it was chocolate with buttercream frosting ( my favorite--yuuuummmm.... ). I had a tiny sliver, and then since I had to run home to retrieve my grades, I stopped by Dr. V's office with the rest of the cake (hey, if it weren't for Dr. V and his staff, I wouldn't have had a valversary!).
It was such a nice gift, because I'd been really stressed about Mom, the end of the year, etc...
Anyway, I ended up talking to my cardio's nurse practitioner because I returned a bit later to look for my cell phone. I thought I'd lost it, and with the stress of the day (heck, the past few days), I looked all over the place for it: my car, classroom, apartment, the cardio's. (Found it yesterday in a nice little crevice I hadn't thought to look). She really settled my nerves about the mom thing and was very reassuring. Then she took me out to see Dr. V; she said she wanted to congratulate him on my 1-year anniversary. He gave me a hearty hand squeeze and pat on the back. He seemed so proud of me, and assured me the cake wouldn't go to waste.
The NP told me, also, that if I ever need to see her to vent about my mom, she'll be there for me. I thought that was really sweet of her.
Who though high school kids would be so thoughtful to give their teacher a cake like that?
And then today, when my dad, hubster and I were visiting Mom, Mike ran into his favorite teacher from high school who was also visiting her friend in the ICU. Small world!
Just wanted to share...
