Very thought-provoking thread. I think some of this is age-related. When time finally came for my OHS, I was near retirement age. I had had a pretty full life, so in reflecting on my mortality, I looked back on it -- of course also wanting, hoping, praying to be around to see more milestones in my family members' lives.
I do consider myself a survivor. I was fortunate enough not to have the level of trauma some here have had, but I will forever remember being in the ICU, with the vent still hooked up, and hearing nurses discussing my "severe" breathing problems. I thank God for helping me get through that and putting those angels there to help me.
