Well I am finally getting out of the waiting room into the OR. Tomorrow, after watching my condition since 2013, I will have open heart surgery to place a Carpentier-Edward’s Perimount aortic valve in my heart. I started this process after my yearly echo showed my bicuspid valve had moved to severe stenosis.

I interviewed 2 different surgeons and believe I chose an excellent, detailed oriented surgeon with many years of experience plus he had a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. He has a team who have been with him for 7 years and they are a well oiled machine! I am confident that what ever happens I will be well taken care of by all the staff.

I want to thank this community for all the insights and information you so generously offered through my process. Knowledge is power! I will be happy to give some feedback about my experience once I am feeling up to it. I am feeling very positive and relieved that this is coming to fruition. See you on the other side!

All the very best tomorrow. You will be on the other side before you know it and have a wealth of experience yourself to share with current and future valvers.
Looking forward to hearing from you in a few days.

You've got this, Bee! I remember having mixed feeling the day of surgery; a little nervous, of course, but more than anything, I was looking forward to feeling so much better after some recovery. That has proved to be true! Your positive attitude is going to serve you well in recovery.
