Hi everyone -

My AVR is set for June 22nd at Upstate (University) Hospital in Syracuse, NY with Dr. Lutz. My catherization is set for June 1 and preadmission is June 15. Somewhere in there I need to go for bloodwork and EKG (I think that is May 25). I have noticed everyone has been though a different schedule as far as the preadmission procedures. I was surprised to have it stretch out so much.

Nervous, scared, and preparing... Without this site, I would be totally unprepared. There are a lot of things here I would never even think of.

Well in 1.5 months I will be on the "other side". Thanks for all who have given me inspiration and support!

Hi Caroline,
I put you on the calendar for June 22nd. Dick has pre-op two days before surgery and the cath the day before, but that could be because he had his surgery 2 hours away from home. Glad you are reading all you can to prepare and sending you best wishes for an easy climb over the mountain. Being prepared is half the battle!

Hi Caroline,

Congrats on setting the date! That was one of the hardest parts for me. As you have probably read quite often on this site, the waiting is usually the toughest part of the whole deal. You are gonna do great. PM with your address and I will get this beautiful shirt in the mail to you!!
I am 9 weeks post surgery-feel great and have been jogging outside occassionally in this wonderful warm weather! Life is good and I am wishing you the best!!!

Congratulations on setting the date. Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy, uneventful, recovery. I look forward to your update from the other side of the mountain.

The date!

The date!

Congratulations on setting the date...I know you will do well at Upstate. There are others on VR from this area that have been through Upstate with no problem. All my preadmission tests were a week before like yours. Good luck, and let me know what (no, not IF) you have any questions....I'd be glad to answer if I can.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks everyone!

I look forward to getting this all behind me and enjoying the Central New York summer. The kids will be out of school and at their grandparents (just 10 minutes away).

:( I just found out that my father may need bypass surgery. Can we have just one heart surgery at a time, please?!
