When we were living in Northern Virginia for a few years, all the families in our cul-de-sac (which was atop a hill) got together, and we pooled our candy on several tables out in the street, lit some lanterns, fired up a big grill and had a cookout with burgers and beer while handing out goodies to the kiddies who ventured up the hill. We had as much fun as the kids. Now that we live out in the boonies, it's pretty here, but Halloween is quiet (probably would be scary if anyone did show up out here in the wilderness -- probably would be a bear.
