Just got my pre-surgery call from the Hospital, looks like it is a go for tomorrow 3/23/05 at around 12:30 pm. My wife will be staying in a motel near the hospital until Thursday evening, when she gets home that night she will put an update on the Post Surgery thread. Thanks for your concern and support. We are looking forward to good results! God has given us the " peace that passes understanding". I have been using Psalm 77 as a source of strength, it decribes a person with much apprehension, to the point of loosing sleep, and then he remembers all of the times past, that God has been with him and provided a way for him. The psalmist continues to describe the RED SEA EXPERIENCE, a sea before them, an angry army behind them, and yet God provided a way across to the other side. I have been a Christian for many years, what a blessing to cast my cares on God knowing that he is there for me. Kinda preachy, but just sharing what is on my mind and heart. There are a lot of "fox hole" conversions. I am thankful that now in a time of difficulty I find that what I have put my trust in is real. By the way, God has no problem with "fox hole" conversions he is always ready and willing to be called on, he is not a fair weather friend, but seems to draw even closer while we are in the storm. Thanks again and may God Bless all of you. Charlie B

Charlie,

Happy to hear that you will soon be on this side of the mountain. I will pray for you and your wife (it's often harder to watch than to have surgery - in some respects :D).

You are going in armed with all kinds of information and understanding much of which many of us did not have. You are already ahead of the game.

Looking forward to hearing from you via your wife on Thursday. We will worry until then and still pray after.

Good luck and God bless.

My standard issue worrying goes on for the first 48 hours after surgery. I'll be anticipating the news. Your gonna be home in 4 days right? :D

Good luck on your surgery tomorrow. As long as you continue your trust in God things will be fine. He was there with me and my wife every step of the way. He got me through each step in the recovery just fine. We received that same "peace" throughout our entire ordeal. It helped us tremendously.

Chincoteague Island wasn't that the place the do the annual "pony swim"? While living in Maryland, we used to go down and enjoy the weekend.

Our prayers and good thoughts are coming your way. Just remember, you will never be alone in this. Between God and your "family" here at VR.com you have plenty of support and encouragement. Look forward to the good report on the other side.

May God Bless,

Danny

me again

me again

Ross, your right, they say I will be home in 4-5 days. Danny, you are also right Chincoteague is where we have the Pony Swim. I was born and raised on the island and it would take an atomic bomb to make me leave. Still a great place, but the tourist industry has really taken off, and changed our way of life in many ways. Be talkin to you, soon. God Bless, Charlie B

Hey Charlie-

Tomorrow is the birthday for your brand new fixed up heart! Wishing you an easy time of it, and we'll be waiting to hear how things went. God bless.

Charlie,

Not to get sidetracked from your surgery (but maybe you need that :D). Is your island the same island from the movie "Violets are Blue" (Sissy Spacek (sp?) movie)?

I thought that island with the wild ponies was very beautiful and watching the movie (a favorite of mine) makes me very wistful.

If it is your island, you are a very lucky person (but then you seem to know that).

Misty of Chincoteague

Misty of Chincoteague

Gina, sorry not that island, they did do a movie in the 60s called "Misty of Chincoteague". I was around 12 years old and we all enjoyed watching it being made. I even got to take the young girl playing the lead role on the ferris wheel. My one claim to fame! There are also many childrens books about Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, most widely known is "Misty". Be talkin to you next week. Take care, Charlie B

Charlie,

Now that you mention it, the island in the movie was called Assateague. However, I have no idea if the movie was actually filmed there. It appeared that there were no houses on that island so I was a little confused when I read your post since the name of your island was so familar.

Were you actually in the movie on the ferris wheel or was that during filming breaks? It sounds like fun either way.

I lived for 5 years in southern California and was an avid fan of filming sites. It is a lot of fun to go and watch. I have even been in a few crowd scenes but it takes a genius and a pause/scan button to spot me :D:D:D.

Charlie,
Wishing you God's speed. I know the surgery will be a great success.

when I was in pre-op, just before they put me out, I placed myself in God's hands and was prepared for whatever. I felt a peace like I had never before.......and here I am....Praise GOD, cause it was surely nothing I did.....

Are you going to Sentara/Norfolk General? I was there three weeks ago for MVR. Don't worry - you will be fine and it really is not as bad as you imagine!

God Bless,

Wendy

You will be fine..after you arrive at hospital..they give you a good-feel shot..and you will be very mellow....Tell your wife not to worry.... :) Everything will be fine. :) Bonnie

Charlie, best of luck. You'll be back at the keyboard in no time. You'll have lots of company in spirit with you in the OR. Hope the mountain's a molehill for you.

Charlie,

God give His peace in many ways......this site has seemed to be that peace for some.

I will be sure to keep you in my thoughts and prayers, however I am assured all will be well.

May the Lord Bless you and keep you
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you

An Grant you Peace

Both now and forever.

God Bless,

ben

Charlie,
You'll be in my prayers tonight and all day tomorrow. Your wife and family too, I'm sure they'll be worrying until they see your face on the other side of the mountain. Just think, this tomorrow you'll be through your surgery!!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow at around 12:30. At that time, I'll be meeting several people for lunch, one of whom received a heart transplant about six months ago. It'll make it easy to remember your situation.

Do well, Charlie.

Best wishes,

Best of and warmest of thoughts Charlie, I like the fact that you look to the writings of David in the book of Psalms. Has always been one of my most favorite of bible books. Thoughts will be with you, and a speedy recovery. Laurie
