Hey Bill:

Just curious, is there health insurance and how do they deal with the "pre-existing condition"?

Peggy,

The health insurance is a Blue Shield PPO; I currently am on Blue Cross through my wife's employment, so there won't be any break in coverage or any need to change doctors. The best part is that there is LIFE insurance - a group policy for which I do not need to qualify by medical examination. Since I was recently refused a life insurance policy, the life insurance benefit is very important to me.

I assume your son attends Cal Poly SLO? It's a great school, and only about 30 minutes away from us.

Tom F. - thanks! I may take you up on that offer.

Anna and Bethanne -

Good to hear from you both. OHS really does make one sit back and re-evaluate. Good on both of you for 'listening' to that inner voice and trying something you want to do.

That's Great!

That's Great!

That's great about your health insurance! When I hear someone is changing jobs, the 1st thing I think about is . . . what about health insurance? I too am with Blue Cross, Federal Blue Cross and thankfully my husband's company has a Blue Cross plan, too, so they compliment each other nicely. Still, if I was to lose my fed. job, I'd be pretty scared because my husband's coverage isn't as good as mine, and his cannot be taken into retirement. Mine will be with me in retirement if I stay enough years.

How neat that you can get life insurance as well. Since I am not the bread winner "so to speak" in my family [the lawyer husband makes all the money, not me] I am not as concerned about life insurance but do have a big term policy that I took out ages ago before I knew about my heart condition.

Yes, son Daniel is at Cal Poly in SLO town. It is a nice campus and he seems to enjoy it there. - Who wouldn't! Beaches, babes, sunshine! Beats Anchorage in November!

Again, good luck in your new job.

According to statistics you are doing what most people do anyway....apparantly over our working lives we all change careers at least 4 times, so you sound pretty normal!!!!
I won't wish you luck because that comes from winning the lottery or similar, every other good fortune comes from damned hard work!! So work hard and be happy. :)
