Thanks for all your prayers. I talked to my niece this afternoon, and she said this was an outpatient procedure.

She said her mom hasn't told her everything, that it's the way my sister's always been about her health around her own daughter. (They're both RNs.) So my niece probably doesn't know as much about the situation as I do.

My sister said the doctor didn't really want to give her info via telephone, but she said she did want to know the results via phone if they get results by Friday -- and not have to go the weekend without knowing.

Betty: Your husband is in my prayers. Please keep us posted about him.

Marsha, just read this, and you and your sister will be in my thoughts until the results come back, hopefully Friday.

And yes, they have many successful treatments these days for all kinds of cancers.

A lot of times what appears to be cancer at first inspection, turns out to be benign. I hope this is the case with your sister Nancy.

Thanks for your continued prayers.

Nancy & I played phone call tag today. I called while she was on the phone w/ her husband, and she called while I was talking to a friend and left a voice mail. Her voice was very raspy; she said she hadn't heard anything yet.

Update

Update

My sister said that despite the first diagnosis of cancer, she has lymphatic hyperplasia. When I last talked to her about it, she was wanting an MRI or another test that would be more definitive.

However --- her hip joint replacement surgery is back on. She's to have surgery Wednesday, Dec. 16. Don't know how long she'll be in the hospital. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she won't develop blood clots like she did in July after outpatient varicose vein surgery. She's been on warfarin since then.

Nancy's insurance deductible had been met for the year, hence rushing to have the surgery before 2010 arrives.

When I saw her at Thanksgiving, I could tell she was in quite a bit of pain, favoring one leg. Her right hip joint was replaced in October 1998 after a fall in her home while trying to restrain a @#%! dog.

Marsha, thanks for the update. I have been wondering how she was doing. This sounds like a better turn of events but I also understand her desire to know definitively. Isn't it hard to wait these things out when it involves someone you love so much!
