Hi MurmurSinceForever, Thanks for the advice, info, link - it was very interesting and helpful to read the thread on your decision-making process regarding valve selection. Sounds like you made the right choice for you and glad you have no regrets. And I definitely appreciate the points you made in favor of mechanical. But I guess I have much homework to do to really know what choice is best for me. As I mentioned, surgery isn't yet planned for my immediate future, but I know that could change. And there's a lot more I need to discuss with my cardiologist to better understand my situation. In the meantime, I'm gaining better insight and will always be indebted to posters like you for sharing your experiences and knowledge. It really makes the world of difference.

Hi MurmurSinceForever, Thank you for the advice and link. Your thread on choosing between a mechanical or tissue valve is extremely helpful. And I definitely value your points for going with a mechanical valve. But, I need to do more homework on this topic to know what will be right for me. As I mentioned, I'm not scheduled for surgery yet and supposedly years away from it - but planning to address more issues with my cardiologist soon to better understand my situation and make sure that delaying surgery isn't putting me at greater risk. In the meantime, I am indebted to you and the other posters for sharing your experiences, advice and concerns. It makes a world of difference to have that support.
