I did it to myself.

Was on a roll, dropping 1 - 2 lbs a week. Then, my resting HR dropped and my heart function improved measurably (courtesy of Polar HR monitor and Omron automatic BP wrist cuff).

So what do I do? Take off the better part of three weeks and put on 4 lbs.

I'm not exactly sure why I did that. But I will redouble my effort starting with tonight's exercise regimen.

Sigh. Anyone else do this to themselves?

I don't exercise but I thought I would share.

I mountain bike at least 3 times a week every week. Occasionally I just don't feel like doing it so I stop. The negative is a loss of physical conditioning and endurance, the plus is a renewed interest in my chosen form of recreation.

You can't push yourself all the time you need to occasionally be lazy and lounge around, that's for the sanity. Enjoy your vacation (from exercise) and have fun getting into it again when you come back.

Just get back on the wagon and keep on riding. I stopped working out for the month of December and a bit of January (kids home from college, house guests, family guests etc - no time and when there was, I was too pooped to pop). This was the first time I didn't chastize myself for it, I just started working out again when my schedule returned to semi-normal. I figured out that when I got made at myself for "falling of the wagon", I just got more discouraged and it stopped me from starting again.

I've had two major interruptions in my exercising - 6 mos. for herniated disc and 4 mos. for knee. ARGH. Yes, gained a couple of lbs., inr went up, didn't have to actually start over, but was definitely a setback.

Made me appreciate cardiac rehab more.

Still want to play hooky now and then. Nearly every day I have to talk myself into going. Will even feel kinda punk a couple hours before I go. Just keep going and feel so much better.

I wonder what's wrong with me sometimes - physically and intellectually I know I'm doing so much better to work out, but old lazy butt moi wants to skip.

You have company, for sure.

Man, I wish I only gained 4 pounds when I fall off the exercise wagon.;) :D

Seriously - just pick it back up. These things do happen and you just have to start again and not beat yourself up too much.

Good luck.

You guys are really wonderful.

You guys are really wonderful.

I'm BACK on my horse!

Weird, isn't it, that we can "talk" to each other in ways that we can't always even with people we know and love in real life.

Thanks!
