Robin Update

Hi all, it's currently almost 9pm. I'm sitting next to Robin reading her all the replys. She says Thank you very much.

Last night was definitely a tough night, they did remove her breathing tube around 7pm or so. She was still in alot of pain due to the chest tubes they had in, i guess they go under the rib cage. Alot of the pain she thought she was having was from her heart but the nurse said it wasn't it was from the tubes they had in her. It was also tough because she couldnt drink anything, they wouldnt let her. They said her stomach was still asleep from the anesthesia, they would give her a couple ice chips but didn't want to because they knew it would make her sick. Well , she got sick. They said in the morning they would give her some water to drink. Around 4:30am they took some xrays then had her get into a chair. This HELPED ALOT. Still had pain, but was better than the previous 6 or 7 hours.

I went home around 10 am, her parents relived me so i could try to get some sleep. When i returned around 4pm she was moved out of ICU and into the "Step-Down" ward. They had also removed her chest/drainage tubes, oxygen, and alot of the IV bags, must have been 12 or so, now down to 2 or 3. Today they haven't been giving her pain meds via the IV, they are giving her some pills to swallow.

Definately starting to look more normal. Just resting. They are going to get her up again just shortly. Hopefully she will be able to sleep some tonight, I don't think they wanted her sleeping last night, i believe they don't want her sleeping for 24 hours after surgery.

Thank you for the post, you are past the tough part.

Step down day was the most difficult for me, you will likely see major improvement tomorrow

speedy recovery and chin up as it all gets better soon.
