My first reunion was the one in Nashville, Oct of 2001. It was seven months afer my OHS! When my friend, sister and I got to the hotel, no one was around. I had gone up to the desk and asked them to call Hank, as we know they won't tell you what room people were in. About an hour or so later when they got back from lunch, Hank and Michele were knocking at our door. We hugged like we knew each other all our lives! It was a truly AWESOME experience. I felt like I was at home at last with my family!

At the Chicago reunion when we were in the lounge area and I saw Sherrin, my response to welcome her was overwhelming! THe reunion was in my area and here was a member I had never met, and I wanted her to feel like I had, when I went to my first reunion! Welcome! From her post, I can see she did and that makes me smile! She was already a family member in my heart!

I was so glad I found this site, even though it wasn't until a month after my surgery! This is the best support group I've ever been a part of in my life! I can never say Thank You enough to Hank & Michele! I joined after the email days but before the present site was up and running!

The Colorado reunion will be the fourth one I'll be attending. Our group at the reunions are getting bigger and biger! I look forward to meeting more and more members of our extended family, as well as reuniting with the ones I've already met. So everyone, try to make it!

It also has been great getting together with our local members from the Chicago area! When we had our Mexican pot luck a month ago, it was like getting together with family! I felt right at home in Perry and Kathie's house, like I've known them all my life! I just feel the power of our connection is so great!

With every member I meet I feel so truly connected! I feel like a member of the family! Yeah we have fun! We're celebrating LIFE! Colorado is the place to be this October!

Lorraine,

I agree with you 100%. When I met you and other members at the reunion it was more like meeting up with family. Some people looked and sounded different than I expected but I felt like I already knew everyone. I was less than 7 weeks post-op and it was like a celebration trip for me.

Hi Lorraine& Bettty,
What you said about the renuion are so true. Lorraine caught me a little of guard when she came to hug me. I thought who is this women! I hadn't put her face with her name. But she made me feel so welcome. The whole group was there to welcome all with open arms. For thoses who haven't got to make any of the reunion I highly recommend it. I didn't think my husband would have a good time but he felt weclome also! He is ready for Denver has much as I am. I wanted to go to Las Vagas the yr. but it just didn't work out. My oldest daughter doesn't understand the bond we share.
