There have been a lot of new members since the Reunion in Chicago last Oct. and I wanted to let these new members know what a Great Time we had at the reunion. Thanks to Gina and everyone that helped put it on.

My name is Dave Schuppe and I go by fyfytr on the forums. Now a retired fyrfytr. LOL I became a member of this Wonderful site last May about a month after my OHS and I have enjoyed being a part of this site ever since.

If you haven't looked yet you need to take a look at the past reunion pictures on the main page of the site and see what a good time was had my all in attendance.

I know others will come along and tell you also how wonderful it is to meet the people you have been talking with in the forums. It is like meeting old friends you haven't seen for awhile.

So if you haven't yet I would encourage you to look at attending the reunion coming up Oct. 14 - 17 in Colorado and experience a wonderful time with all these Great people. You will come away with a lifetime of friendships. As Rain says "Enjoy the Moment"

There will be a lot of info coming about the Colorado Reunion and if you have questions please feel free to post them or PM me or any of the others about the reunions.

Take Care

:)If you have questions would you ask them in the Reunion Forum so we don't get a reunion forum going here in Small Talk.
Thanks

I have a good friend in Colorado Springs, so I am thinking about scheduling a visit to see her around the time of the reunion. How soon do we have to let y'all know if we're coming?

Right on, Dave!!

Right on, Dave!!

Hey Shelba,

You can show up without ever telling us, if need be. The purpose of the poll in the ?reunion? section is to help us decide how many rooms to reserve at the hotel and how many places we?ll need for the evening dinners. So if you are pretty sure you?ll need a room or will be having dinner with us, please post to the poll.

Dave is absolutely right about what a wonderful experience it is meeting everyone in person. It?s truly amazing.

I joined VR.com shortly before the reunion in Chicago. But I become attached to everyone so quickly that my husband and I went to one of the dinners (we live in the Chicago area). It was like going to a family reunion, meeting family that you've never seen face to face. We only went to a dinner - but it sounds like a very wild time was had in the Windy City. This gang likes to have fun.

Calling all new members!

Calling all new members!

I just want to reiterate what Dave said. You may be brand new to vr.com but don't feel that you won't settle right in if you attend the "reunion", "retreat", "annual conference" or whatever you want to call it. Just a lot of folks getting together to mostly have fun. I was new last year and a little reticent to attend but it was in my original hometown of Chicago so I went. By two hours into it I felt like I had known everyone for years. Now I get to help host.

All you new folks, please ask any questions if you're not sure what it's all about. It's really just a weekend of fun activities but since this is beautiful Colorado, why not stretch the weekend and see the state? We'll be glad to play tour guide!

Paul

Amen! Amen! Amen!

Need I say more?

I, too, was a bit "wary" of attending, but since us Chicagoans had gotten together earlier in the year, I knew a few people going into it...and those I didn't know, as has already been mentioned, within minutes I felt I had known them for years.

Heh...too bad this year's isn't going to be in Chicago again...the Cubs could provide us with some more October entertainment ;).

LOL!

This will be the first time I will be attending a "reunion" of VR.com. I am so excited to meet all the wonderful people who helped me through my surgery and who I have grown very fond of and feel a kinship with - a bond that is beyond words.

I live in Estes Park, Colorado, the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the most beautiful places in Colorado (I'm not partial - ha). I would be glad to play tour guide here in my neck of the woods to any who would like to see the elk bugle (which is a very awe-inspiring experience) up in RMNP, or just to enjoy the mountains. Estes Park is about 1-1/2 hours from Golden.

I love to be around fun, vivacious people (I am rather reserved i.e. "boring" - ha) so am looking forward to the big "party" in October.

Christina L.

Yeah, Cort has it right. Reunion = Lots of Fun!

Christina -- nobody can be boring in THIS group, period. We have people from all walks of life, all sorts of professions, and I will say (from my own limited experience) that the group just plain enjoys being together. That's what reunions are all about (for me, at least).

Quick comment from an "Old Timer"

Quick comment from an "Old Timer"

As most of us are aware.......five years ago....VR.com as we know it was just a dream of Hank's. Beleive there were 7-10 of us his email list. Our email boxes would be filled with messages shared back and forth.

Though I am over the "hump" so to speak. Would like to reflect back on all of the great support and friendships that have been formed here. This is only reinforced in my opinion by regular member gatherings.

Honestly...not sure where I would be today without you all. This is the best form of therapy one could ask for.

Greatly looking forward CO! We are having another mini gathering in Chicago on 3/20 if anyone is interested. It has grown beyond expectations. "Good Thing". :)

This is so true. I also look greatly forward to seeing a lot of new faces at the next VR.com reunion in Colorado. I've been to several reunions so far and can echo the people who've posted before me, it is an awesome experience. It is really like meeting close friends whom you haven't seen in a long time, and you right away feel comfortable with.
I remember my very first reunion in March of 2001 (6 months after my surgery) and I was so excited, and couldn't wait to get there and meet everyone. I felt an instant bond with everyone and hope it to be the same with all the new people I get to meet this year.
We have 4 VR.com members in Tucson and we meet weekly for walk, talk and fun. These VR.com friends feel like my sisters, and I love them with all my heart.
BTW, that reminds me, it is Tuesday today and I am off to see my VR.com buddies.
Hope to see you at the reunion in Colorado..
Please be there or no where...

Las Vegas Reunion

Las Vegas Reunion

My husband and I attended the Las Vegas reunion,

We only decided to go a week before it was scheduled, so left it too late to get a room in the reunion hotel,

As we were walking up the street to the reunion hotel there was a group of people stood out front, and they saw I was wearing a VR.Com T Shirt, we was made so welcome, it was unbelievable, it was like meeting family, we spent a lovley evening with lovley people,

I am not sure If I can make Denver but believe me I will try and so should you.......

You will be made so welcome and I am sure the Denver committee
will have some fun things planned.....

Hope to see you in Denver

Jan

I agree........

I agree........

I haven't been in the forum much this past while as I don't have a valve....I'm a sorta honorary, adopted member and I'm from Ireland, thousands of miles away....

..However I can agree with all the other posts on this thread. I was the first 'International' member to show up at the Nashville re-union and it was like having a family get-together. In fact it was so good that I crossed the Atlantic again last October to attend the Chicago event.

On both occasions I met new folks and saw new faces...some of them were instantly recognisable and others had simply used old pictures for their avatars...hahaha. But nevertheless there was a common bond and we had a lot of FUN. I think if you go look at the pictures from Chicago and pay close attention to the smiling faces you will be in no doubt that everybody was thoroughly enjoying themselves.

I'm working hard at getting to Denver in October and sincerely hope that it all works out for me. Unfortunately I still need to work, otherwise there would be no hesitation, but time will tell.

One thing I do know is that with Miss Rain planning it, Denver will certainly be the place to be this fall.

Cheers,

Billy, so glad to see you've changed your mind and will try to attend.

Paul

Well Mister PillarPaul....

Well Mister PillarPaul....

I'm kinda glad that you have changed yours too....did you remember to send those flowers yet?

Cheers,

I've never been a one of the re-unions (yet!), so I can't really talk about what it would be like. I can talk a little about the location we have picked for this year. Golden was the first capital of Colorado. It sits about 10 miles due west of downtown Denver, in the valley between the front range and and the row of upthrusted rock that forms the edge of the plains.

In just a couple of minutes drive, you are really IN the Rocky Mountains. Golden is also the home of the Coors Brewery, which has a great tour ending with free beer samples (Yea!). A few miles to the south is Red Rocks Park, the best place on earth for outdoor concerts and also a great place to hike. Golden still has its old main street, with restaurants and shops right out the door of the hotel. Also right out the door of the hotel is Clear Creek. Walking and biking trails line the Creek, which flows year round and sports rapids for kayakers and fishing. Golden also has several museums including a pioneer museum and a railroad musem.

I sure hope a lot of the members will come this October. I'm looking forward to meeting ya'll!

Marcia

Looks like I'll be able to plan to attend this one. I have spent lots of time in Colorado - my wife was born in Colorado Springs, my mom in Ft. Lupton, and my dad lived in Wray (way east, almost into Kansas). We used to take yearly car trips through Colo. on our way to see my grandparents in Western KS. It's been a good 10 years, so it will be good to see the Rockies again :D

Looking forward to it.
