Hi, Francesca -- Of course we have the DVD connected to the BIG screen TV. Sound system is all set up, too, so bring 'em on!

Harry -- I think the best thing you can do for yourself right now is find cardiologist #2, then just fire #1. I did just that about 8 or 9 months ago, and although my condition hasn't changed (drat. . . ), my understanding of my condition, limitations, and likely future progression have improved dramatically. Along with the understanding comes much greater peace with the reality of it. Find a doc you can be comfortable meeting with, then go with their program. Hang in there!

Hi Tiggerangelgirl

Hi Tiggerangelgirl

Hi Nicole,

I wish you the best of things when you go on wednesday, and moreover, I hope that you start to feel better. I absolutely can't stand the way I feel when I am in chf. It's horrible. I am so glad that we see eye to eye on the medicaid issue, because I really and truly believe that the doctors put us in the low priority catagory because of it...you are in my thoughts and prayers..Harrybaby666:D :D :D

Hi Steve

Hi Steve

Hi Steve,

I am so glad to see your back and hopefully doing as well as can be expected. I am so glad to be fighting for what I think is right in this matter and that is thanks to the support of everyone on this sight. It is just shocking how bad the lack of quality of medical care is here in Rochester, New Hampshire. I cannot wait to see the new cardiologist and see how he is as far as listening to people. Meanwhile, like you, I am just in the waiting room with no definite dates in sight, and having to deal with the added problem of my father, who is dying from heart failure..(They decided that he wouldn't be a viable canidate for a transplant given his age and other medical issues.) I think this is what's helping me to be more motivated to fight. Thank you for all your support, wisdom and encouraging thoughts and suggestions. I hope all is well with you and yours. Harry and Nicole, you're both too young to be dealing with such grave health issues, and furthermore, illustrate the problems with America's health care system.

I had a brief stint as the director of a health advocacy group in DC called, "Health Right". Then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton was one of our biggest supporters.

We were affiliated with the Natl. Assoc. of Home Care and pushed Capitol Hill for long-term care benefits for children and the disabled. I don't know if you recall the health care reform debate of the mid-90's; we were on the frontline. Our non-profit was responsible for hosting hearings on the Hill that featured children with long-term care needs. At one hearing, Hillary broke down and cried. It was intense stuff, but what a shame we really didn't make too much of a difference.

Best,

Hi Nicole

Hi Nicole

If I were you, I'd call again tomorrow and MAKE sure you still have the appointment. Day before Thanksgiving the doctor's may take off. ..I wish you the best luck..You deserve it..Bonnie

Nicole, GOOD LUCK with your Wednesday appointment. Hope you come out with that date for surgery so you can have your new year start off right!

Thinking of you.:)

Thanks Kim C

Thanks Kim C

Hi Kim,

I just want to thank you for your kind and helpful words of encouragement. I have a disability rights group here in NH that will not help me because I have a lawyer involved, but yet they expect my support when it comes to keeping the organization going. How twisted is that I tell you...I will keep pushing on though, simply because of all the encouragement I get here. Thanks again. Harrybaby666:D :D :D

thanks everyone

thanks everyone

i went to the cardiologist and he was so shocked that a doctor told me that i needed to wait ,he said my valves are so bad i should of had the surgery two months ago,and he just had the same information duke had.
the dr told me that next week i will be in the hospitial having my valves replaced because he was making a personal call to duke and kicking them in the butt.He also told me that the best place for me to be was eithier pitt county{ECU}or duke because I need both of my valves replaced with out a doubt and the lung issues,He told me that duke would be the only place that had the resources if a major complication came about and he said that it would be a risky and hard surgery.
Iam so thankfull for a doctor who knows his stuff so tomorrow friday i will talk to mt reg. card. and he should have some kinda a plan, the other dr said i needed to be in the hospitial so if my dr can arrange Iam going,so i will try to keep everyone in touch, please continue to pray that this will all come together with no more obstacles and a surgeon that knows his stuff can anybody reccomend a surgeon at duke university eithier from expierence or by a friend or relative.thanks everyone for your support i'll keep everyone posted

I'm glad that you may well be closer to having much of this behind you. It would sure be nice to have you home and in better health before Christmas. As far as a Duke surgeon, the only one I know is the one who operated on me and several others on this site. I really liked him. Your case sounds very complicated and, whether or not it would be a good fit for you, I just don't know.

Please let us know as soon as you get a date. In the meantime, Nicole, prayers will continue.

I just wanted to say how glad I am to hear that someone got off the stick and are going to get your valves taken care of asap. I have been just as frustrated as you most likely are, because I am having the same difficulties with my cardiologist. I will be thinking of you and praying that you fly through this with courage, lots of support, and love from your family. Take Care, Keep us posted...Harrybaby666:D :D :D :D

Hi Nicole-

I'm so glad that things are moving along. My bet is that you will end up with the best surgeon for your conditions and it will be a top man and a top team. Your problems will take special handling and lots of experience.

Taks care and God Bless.

Katie-

You haven't mentioned Maia in a long time. I've been thinking of her and was wondering what's happening with her situation,

I'm glad you had a little good news from your latest testing. As long as you're out of the danger zone, that's great. Surgery can always wait.

You can't leave anyway - we locked the door!

:D

Bead work - I knew I liked you. I'm a beader too!

Karlynn

I put Maia on the calendar for a tentative date. If it changes, let us know.

So glad to hear that she is feeling well, and has a new love. Should help loads with her recovery!
