Ross, they're probably not really people but "bots", hits, I forgot what it's called. On a forum I moderate same thing happens occasionally. One day it looked like we had 1200 new members. LOL. Something like spam hits. Maybe.
Nope, they are legit IP's and email addresses. Comcast, AOL, and a few others block our confirmation email. I usually manually validate these accounts, but these people register, are here for 2 minutes, then nothing. No return look see or anything.

BUBBA....don't you even talk like that:eek:
My theory:
I'm thinking these mystery people may be a little "nutso", residents of a looney bin....they don't know or remember what the heck they are doing from one minute to the next.

To each his/her own

To each his/her own

I have noticed, numerous times, people who are not familiar to me on the board. Sometimes, when I check their registration, I see that they registered months or years ago....and they have never posted.

Perhaps the answer to your questions is that some people want information without contact. Seems like a viable option to me.

I would agree for some, but some are only here for 2 whole minutes and that's it, then never again.

And then there are those who used to be on daily and finally wander off into the world - i.e. ILoveNY, Joy, Brad - young 'uns who have a whole life ahead of them. They stop in from time to time (Joy was just in a week ago) so we do hear from some of the members who 'used to be'.

Actually, I tend to be one of those "lurkers" at other forums I'm registered at, which are mostly ones about hobbies....guitars, motorcycles, photography, etc. This is really the only forum I post to. Maybe its because of the common circumstance, and purpose, of this forum that I enjoy the comraderie, while I don't feel that need in those other forums.
