I very rarely use my mobile (cell) phone, I keep it for emergencies and for using in the UK, the rest of the time is is switched off. A couple of days ago I tried to switch it on to show a friend, we were trying to decide if we both had the same model. Last time I used it was in the summer when I phoned my garage as I thought my car had a water leak.
Well I pressed and poked and it wouldn't switch on. I came home and put it on charge just in case. Next day I phoned the call centre (in India I think) at huge cost as they kept me hanging on for ages. Then finally a frustrating conversation which had to be aborted when I couldn't get the back off the phone to tell her the model. Then I succeeded and phoned back and had more waiting then finally spoke to a man who said he couldn't help me as I didn't buy the phone from one of their shops and to go back to where I bought it.
Today I drove into town, queued to get into a carpark, queued to speak to an adviser. Explained my problem and asked if she could try it to see what the problem was, was it the phone or the SIM card for this UK company. She took the phone then came back with it on, said it is fine with a local SIM. Then she took that one out and put my SIM back in and voila, it switched on just fine. I asked her to show me what she had done - she used the on/off button, it works so much better than the ok button! Whoops!
Pumphead is still alive and kicking.
