I have a few photos of Rainier also. I lived out in WA and fell in love with that mountain. I've been on it a few times and now that my valve is healed up I am back on the bandwagon of trying to climb that sucker !

I love all the mountains in the Northwest. When we lived in Marysville WA we laughed at ads for houses that said "partial mountain view" as most of the town has at least some view of mountains!

Hello Swim Mom,

Ready for this .... I was raised in Marysville, and graduated Class of 78!
Small world. From Marysville you see Mount Pilchuck. I stood on the top of that mountain.

We only lived in Marysville for 17 months while my husband was stationed in Everett but we enjoyed it as he is from Port Orchard (his parents still live there) and I am from The Dalles Oregon. When my husband retired from the Navy last spring we thought we were moving to Wenatchee but it wasn't ment to be...a long story but the job disappered and we are in Florida. I will always miss the NW and the mountains!

To 'All'

When I stood at the top of the ridge at the Recreation area at Sunrise, I thought to myself that it is amazing in the fact that I have been so blessed to see so much of God's beauty around the World. Yet right here on the spot I was standing, in my own back yard; give or take 100 miles from my home; was the most beautiful, awe inspiring sight I ever laid my eyes on.

I went camping two years back outside of Bend at Newberry Nat'l Monument. One of the best memories I have is standing on the rim (or what was once the rim) and being able to look south and see Mt Shasha to the south, and to be able to look north and see Hood and Rainier. Thats about a 800 to 1000 mile view. Very cool to be able to see that much of the world at one time I think.

Attached is a picture I took on Rainer the last time I was there. We like it so much we had it blown up, matted and framed.

And since Im being all nostalgic for the northwest, this picture is one I found that just stuck with me so I kept a copy. Its from the Geological Service. Its of Mt St Helens when she erupted, Mt Adams is also in the picture. Knowing the size of those mountains it just blows me away at the enormity of an eruption. My ex is from Coos Bay so she didn't get too much of it but I do have a buddy who lived in southeastern Washington and he said they had a foot of ashe.

That is a cool picture. It is like our lives; we never really know what is around the next bend, but we keep on going forward with anticipation and Hope.

Sometimes I think God has a sense of humor. In 1988 my daughter was born. I named her after her Great Grandmother, ‘Helen.’ Days later when she was home, we realized that she was born on May 18; the anniversary of the eruption of Mount Saint Helens. I had no idea at the time. 
