Hey guys, my little brother is about to go on a seriously dangerous mission in Iraq. He told me it's basically his platoon vs. a small city of insurgents on the Iran/Iraq border. The soldiers that've been there say it's raining mortars all day and night, and the MRAP's that I used to manufacture are getting taken out by IED's at an alarming rate. So basically it's hell on earth and he's about to enter it. He's already been on a tour on the edge of Baghdad, but this new mission is extremely hazardous in comparison. His platoon's already lost four guys in the last month and he's coming back from leave to join them.

He seems to think he might not make it, but he says he's "ready to go" in the spiritual sense... but I'll never be ready for that. So if you pray, or meditate, or send vibes, or dance to the Moon God, please do whatever it is you do to help my little brother and his platoon.

Thanks guys

you are SOOO right that our soldiers need our support! i will totally be sending good vibes his way...and all the soldiers :) ! trish

Aaron,

As a retired Navy vet, I will definitely being praying your brother and his platoon. Thanks for giving us the opportunity.

Thanks for letting us help in this way. I will keep him and his platoon in my prayers.

Do you know what town or city (area) your brother is going? My grandson is going to Irag the first part of Sept. and I know they call it Mortar City. I need to find out the real name. I think I heard but I forget those names. I have another grandson on a ship at Behrain or somewhere like that.
I worry about them also. So prayers would also be appreciated for them. I will pray for your brother.

Aaron,
My son has been in Iraq since December, 2006, so I understand your worry.
I will keep your brother in my prayers.

Aaron, I'm sorry your brother is in such a dangerous situation. I really appreciate everything people like him do for all of the rest of us. Of course he has my prayers.

Kim

I've got three friends over there and I've been on edge since the whole thing started. I always pray for their safe return..

Aaron, I will definitely be praying for your brother and his platoon, that they get safely through their mission and safely back home. And prayers as well for all the brave men and women serving us in dangerous places around the world.

I will be praying for your family, your brother, the platoon and all the soldiers over there and their families. God bless all of them.

Aaron, I sincerely hope your bro comes home unscathed.
'Moon Gods', :) well I'd be over the moon if some wise and brave politicians brought all your troops home unscathed tomorrow.

Aaron, my prayers are with your brother and all our troops over there.

It just breaks my heart to know our children are going into such danger when they are over there. Prayers are about the only thing I know to do for them and I do it all the time. Our church family always has them on our prayer list. Please keep us posted on how he is and let him know that he is covered up with prayer all the time, along with all his co-soldiers who are there.

Aaron, My prayers are on the way. I have a nephew that did two tours over there. Thank God he made it home. I do try to pray for our men and women in the service every day. When you get a chance, thank him for his service for me. I am very grateful. Brian

I wrote a long detailed response to everyone's replies and I just about popped my aorta when my laptop died and erased my response too, but here I go again:

Trish, you're absolutely right. I guess I was wrapped up in the moment and forgot to request an all-inclusive prayer request. But I'm definitely praying for all of our sons, brothers, fathers, daughters, sisters, mothers, cousins, friends etc that are doing crazy dangerous missions around the world. Thank you!

My bro said that he really can't tell me anything anyway, but he doesn't even know himself where he's going or what his mission is until he gets there. I don't understand how he's talked to a guy in his platoon but they don't seem to be able to relay any information either.

I'm definitely praying for your grandsons. I hope the war doesn't escalate and they can both return home safely. From what I hear, more battleships are on their way to that area. Thanks for your prayer support!

Mary, I can't even imagine worrying about my brother being in Iraq for 2 years. It's this kind of worry that invades even your sleep. I'm praying for your son's safe return. Thanks Mary.

Bonzo, I don't agree with how the war was started at all. I think it was dirty, deceptive politics. But now I'm in this weird position where I can see the number of casualties reducing to basically record lows, and I believe that we need to keep going. I'm just frustrated there's virtually nothing I can do to help.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses and the prayers, everyone. If I didn't mention you, I'm praying for your loved ones too. I just hope it gets alot better there soon. I knew if there was one place other than Church to get some prayer support it would be right here at VR.com. You folks are awesome. Thank you.
