Our Mountains are on Fire (Organ Mtns.)

I received this file a few minutes ago --- our beloved & picturesque "Organ Mountains" have been on fire all this week. This was a photo taken at night.

OMG Njean thats terrible.

We actually live about 18 miles away from it & I just asked my nephew, who is a firefighter & he said it's about 50% contained. They haven't had to evacuate any of the homeowners below. Some of the homes in that area belong to doctors, lawyer's, etc., so there's a lot of expensive homes there.

We have been smelling and seeing the smoke. Really hazy. But we got a dust storm last night and then a gully washer of rain and about 10 minutes of good sized hail.

This is our greatest fear. A couple of years ago we packed up twice in case we needed to make a run for it. And really, your home insurance would only cover a small part of the loss.

We didn't get any rain last night Missy --- there was a bit in town but nothing where we live. Perhaps tonight.......

We have fires all over in Az. You can really see them at night. Hopefully we get some rain soon!! It's really dry and HOT here and having alot of dry lightening.
Stay safe and be careful of all the smoke stay inside as much as you can.
