Not heart! He's already had a bypass! :)

My pop is 85 and had his hip replaced two years ago, something is wrong with it, he's having terrible pain if he turns on it wrong and some with walking. His ortho said he probably needs surgery as something must have gone wrong, his PCP sent us to a neurosurgeon to make sure it wasn't some nerve, he said nope....must be the hip!

I know it's only 2 years since the last one but he has been aging and you can see it. Has anyone had anyone that age go through a surgery like this??

Thanx :)

My mom (Grandma) had hers done close to that age. She made out great, but not everyone does. I've had mine replaced in 99. It's ok, but some days it is painful to walk.

Hi Lynn!

It must be father's week!! I'm moving my dad this friday.

I wondered if they have something for the hip like they do for the knee. I'm staving off knee replacement by getting Synvisc shots every 6 months or so. It's made of rooster comb and it gels up inside you and cushions things. Maybe they could shoot his hip up with something for awhile and see if that doesn't relieve things?? A lot less drastic than surgery.

GOOD LUCK! We worry so for our parents. I hope it goes well for him.

Thanx sweetie! I'll check into that! He does say his hip *clunks* so I'm guessing it's messed up :(

Best wishes to your dad, I hope he'll be happy in his new *pad* :)

Thanx to the others too!!!

I think he'll be alright overall. I doubt they'd have to replace the whole hip, just whatever is not functioning properly.
