Noel and Robbie,
I know that you are traveling to UAB Tuesday for Noel's heart cath and will spend Tuesday night in the hospital. I want to get this thread started before you leave . . . so, remember that you are in excellent hands, at a topnotch hospital. We will all be waiting to hear that you've come through surgery successfully and are on the road to an easy recovery.
My thoughts and prayers are with you each and every day until you are on the other side of this.
God Bless and Godspeed you on your journey.
Mary

Best wishes to Noel..I am sure he will do fine.Great Hospital..Let us hear after his surgery..we worry.:) Bonnie

Thanks

Thanks

We are due at UAB at 6:00 AM Tuesday. The cath will be that day if all is well. Pro-time levels acceptable, etc. Surgery is Wednesday but we have no time as yet. I will talk to Mary with an update ...we will be in Birmingham until he can come home with me. I will not be commuting at all. Just keep us in your prayers.

So glad that Noel's cold is better and you are able to keep your appointment for Tuesday. You both will be in my prayers and I will look forward to hearing from Mary that all is fine- Godspeed!

Noel,

Hope all goes well with your cath and Surgery.
I fell asleep during my cath (after being awakened at 4 a.m. for 4 days for 'vitals'...UGH). BEWARE the EVIL Blood Pressure Cuff. If it goes full pressure, RIP IT OFF before you get BRUISED as badly as I was.

Finally, Did you request a particular type of valve?
Or did Dr. McGiffin recommend one?
I'd REALLY like to know what Dr. McGiffin said about the various valve choices..

Dr. McGiffin just thought it best to go with the mechanical valve since Noel was all ready on coumadin for life. And Noel was in no mood to think about repeating this process again if a tissue valve wore out.

Sending you both positive thoughts. Hope all goes well with both the cath and the surgery.

You are in my prayers Noel and Robbie. Let us know how things are going. Godspeed!!

Robbie

Did he say WHICH mechanical valve he recommended?

There are several. The standard St. Jude mechanical valve has the longest history with outstanding quality control. There are some interesting newer designs that I was hoping he might have commented on.

You two are heavily in my thoughts tonight! All my energy, what's left of it, is being directed to you and a great outcome. Please post as soon as you possibly can, how things went when it's over.

Love,
Ross
