Hi We just got the new improved date for Justin's surgery. I'm not sure I even mentuoned when we met with the surgeon last week, we got a date of July 10th. They (CHOP) have been working very hard trying to get it moved up for a few reasons, one of which is he has had plans to go to Cooperstown for a few days for Cal Ripken's Hall of Fame induction July 29, but they are going for a week. Anyway, they called and were able to get it moved to to June 5th. I'm so grateful they are trying to make this as easy for Justin as possible. Dr. Spray was so nice when he walked in the first thing he said to Justin was I am so sorry to have to meet you again this way so soon, and you could tell he really meant it. I know in the big scheme of life going to Cooperstown for the HOF might not seem like a big deal, but Justin has missed many things because of his heart, he doesn't complain, but he also never gets excited about things a head of time, because so many things fell thru at the last min for medical reasons. So I really was hoping they would be able to move the surgery up.
Well I better get my butt (and credit card lol) moving. please say a little prayer that nothing happens to postpone this. His surgery 2 years ago was postponed 3 times and that was very hard on him, so I don't think he will actual relax and believe it until they are wheeling him down the hall.
Thanks, lyn

Lyn,
I do hope Justin gets his surgery in June as you would like. I know how dissapointing that would be for him to look forward to something he wants to do so badly. Unfortunately I understand even a little better now.

Sending extra prayers that all goes well and as planned.

Funny Dr Mavroudis and Backer both had the same sentimints to me as well. When would they like to see him? But sometimes are harder than others.

All the best,

All the best,

Thanks Wendy, I've been thinking alot about how Justin and Andrew did this about the same time last time too. I am saying many prayers for both our boys. Thank you so much for posting when you have so much going on. I haven't checked my emails so often for updates for a really long time, it is the first thing i do when i get up and last before i to to bed. Lyn

Lyn,
I wish you would have shot for June 7; that's my valve surgery anniversary!
Oh well, June 5 is good too. That's my daughter's birthday, so good things happen on June 5.
I just put Justin's name on the calendar.
Hugs,
Mary

Hoping the surgery date stands! Yes, a trip to Cooperstown HOF may not seem like a big deal, but to a kid that's had as much interest in baseball as Justin, it truly it a BIG deal. Hoping all goes smoothly for him. But it is also a positive thing for him to look foward to! We will keep him in our prayers.

Lyn, I'm hoping that they don't change it anymore for you and Justin is able to get in and get it all over with to start his smooth recovery. As you know, Justin and your family remain in my prayers.

Lyn,

Glad you have the early June surgery date ... congrats :).

Please tell Justin "GOOD LUCK" ... and make sure that he (and you) know that thoughts/prayers are coming his way for a SUCCESSFUL surgery!

Good luck with everything.

Good luck for getting to Cooperstown for Carl Ripken's induction. My family sent one of my sisters to Cooperstown for her 50th birthday. It was a surprise, and her daughter bought air fare with connections -- to throw her off. Cathy loved it. Has wonderful memories of her trip.
I'm sure that Justin will love it too.

Okay, I still hate that ............

Okay, I still hate that ............

Justin has to have this surgery. Hate, hate, hate it! But - if it must be, then I am very grateful that at least the surgery date was moved up from July. (And here I thought you were really serious about that Cal Ripkin offer - guess I'm glad I didn't tell Trip! ;) :D ) You know you guys will be in our prayers throughout this. Hugs. J.
