Hi! Don't worry, you will soon not really hear the valve at all. It is loud at first because it is a new experience. I do have the St. Judes that I got 4+ years ago. You can hear it most when you lay on your left side. My daughter with her preternatural hearing swears she can hear it across a room but hasn't said much lately. But truly as you become more accustomed, you will notice it less. The weird psyche is also normal--for all of the reasons others posting before me have mentioned. I personally don't believe in anti-depressants for short term usage, only in the case of a truly chemical imbalance. But it does seem to work for some, soooo...That too shall pass though once your body is mended. Good luck! Susan:cool:
