Chris will be going for surgery #3 tomorrow morning at 8 am. This is the first of the skin grafting procedures. I guess we get to see how number one does before thinking of others.

Apparently it simply doesn't apply to life long offenders. What gets my goat is this guy is being charged with F4 Felony times 4 aggravated vehicular assault and F3 Felony aggravated vehicular homicide. Sorry, but after 24 previous arrests, the F3 should be an F1 and the F4's should be F2's.

You need to contact your local prosecuting attorney's office; maybe they're called state attorneys in Ohio.
The office secretary should be able to put you in contact with one of the assistant prosecutors about the case. Usually the prosecutors are more than happy to hear from the victims and their families in cases such as Chris and Savannah's. It gives them a little more ammo before the first hearing is held.
Once the prosecutor's office takes over the case, the local police are unable to do much more.
By the way, wasn't one of our former VR members head of the attorney general's office for Ohio?

If your system is like the one in the UK, he might even only serve part of his sentence and be let on parole after a while. It stinks, as I said, they ought to throw away the key in this instance as it wasn't a 'one off' infraction, he will likely as not do it again.

Ross, that's good advice from Mary. Chris may not be able to be in the court room, but his deposition, medical records and pictures can be there I'm sure.

Yikes that picture of him..Scary..sure, he will be out in a few years..Taxpayers will pay for his stay.....Overcrowded..no time to try to rehab him, doubt that he would want it.....If he has any injuries from the accident..he will get free medical..in Prison....One of my son's first jobs was to pass out meds to prisoners..............How did Chris's surgery go this morning?Hope all went well. bonnie

I guess it depends on what state you're in as to how severe the penalties are for repeat offenders like this scum. I do wonder what ultimate penalties he will pay when when his time is up on earth? Hopefully they will be stiffer than what the state of Ohio feels are appropriate.

Still thinking of Chris and praying for the best possible outcome.

The prosecutor (state attorney) in Jackie's case was very nice to all of us in the family. I agree that you should contact him/her and let your thoughts be known and ask them to keep you informed. We had a victim's advocate that we could call at any time. You could ask that the defendant be given the stiffest penalty for this. Can't hurt to have your voice in there.

Ok folks, we have been in contact with the prosecutors office and under our states screwed up laws with loop holes, no matter what, since this is his first vehicular homicide and not his second, third, or fourth, it's only a felony in the 3 degree. I don't like it, I don't have to, but that is the way it is. What troubles me most is this clown is going to serve his sentence and do the same thing all over again. He's proved it time and time again.
Enough of that for now. Sorry, I'm very frustrated with our justice system.

It's been a long day and we just got home. Everything is looking good at this point. They took skin from his right arm and left thigh and patched the hole. They have him in a bear claw tent, which is a heated tunnel of sorts to speed up healing. He is in mega pain and still doesn't grasp the concept that there is no amount of Dilaudid or Morphine they can give him to take it away. He has to try to relax and live with it for a couple days. They have a good blood supply hooked up in the once dead area, so lets hope this works. Good flow going so far and he is on a Heparin drip to avoid clots since he can't get out of bed. Just wish there were a way to get him to relax and stop taking it out on everyone that tries to help him. He really is the worst patient I've ever encountered.

The post-surgery news on Chris's foot sounds promising...I will continue to pray the tunnel and everything helps it heal super-fast...

Its a shame he is being a terrible patient still...I bet you and the nurses have tried all sorts of tricks to try turn his attitde around...

poor thing, he must be so upset about all of this; it's a lot to swallow all at once.
i hope his pain starts to subside some soon.
