Apparently it simply doesn't apply to life long offenders. What gets my goat is this guy is being charged with F4 Felony times 4 aggravated vehicular assault and F3 Felony aggravated vehicular homicide. You need to contact your local prosecuting attorney's office; maybe they're called state attorneys in Ohio.
The office secretary should be able to put you in contact with one of the assistant prosecutors about the case. Usually the prosecutors are more than happy to hear from the victims and their families in cases such as Chris and Savannah's. It gives them a little more ammo before the first hearing is held.
Once the prosecutor's office takes over the case, the local police are unable to do much more.
By the way, wasn't one of our former VR members head of the attorney general's office for Ohio?
