Wise, at a time like this, you are definitely out of sorts and it's hard to take it all in. The answer to your dilemma is TIME WILL TELL ALL (well, some, anyway). You just have to wait for all the testing to come in. At least she's coming out of ICU and that shows improvement is happening. Let her know she's on lots of prayer lists. We are waiting with you.

Ann, thanks for putting things in perspective for me. Since everyone here is just like me right now, I sure helps to have all of you friends whose heads are currently level.

Thanks to all of you for your support. I have some good friends here and for that I'm grateful.

Wise

Wise,
I'm glad your mother is well enough to come out of ICU and I pray that all the test results provide answers to all your questions. Sending prayers your way.

Your Mom on my prayer list....

Your Mom on my prayer list....

I'm praying that your Mom will make lots of progress within the next few days. It's a good sign that she is moving out of ICU, but I hope that she will remain in the hospital a little longer until some conclusions can be made. I think most hospitals seem to dismiss their patients way too soon. Sending lots of prayers your way for you and your sweet mom.

Wise,
We are all with you and your family. Glad to hear your mom is out of ICU and I hope they find out just what happened so you all can feel in better control.
Kristie's doctor is correct. Thyroid cancer is fairly easy to cure if caught early and there are meds available to replace what the thyroid does. Be comforted by that.
I will be praying for all of you.

Wise, so sorry to read that your family has more struggles than necessary right now. You all remain in my prayers.

Mom is being moved to St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Dr. Omar feels he needs their doctor's help on this. We're still waiting for her to be moved. Waiting is the name of the game right now.

Wise,

I was just getting ready to head out the door from work and noticed this post. So sorry to hear about your Mom. Prayers and good thoughts coming y'alls way. Hopefully you can find out more after getting to St Joseph's.

May God Bless you and your family, my friend,

Danny

Wise, the reason the blood tests may not show that a MI(heart attack) has occured could be that it was not a recent event. She may have had a spasm in her coronary arteries that lasted long enough to allow her to have a heart attack but when the spasm relaxed the artery involved went back to being open again. I take nitro for spasm induced angina and it is really effective. It is a possibility anyway.

I hope the cause can be found so further damage can be prevented. She is very fortunate to have a loving son like you.

This is very similar to what we thought Dr. Omar meant. Very helpful Betty. I'm share with mom. Since our hospital has taken so long to get her to Lexington, St Joseph's is putting her in a regular room and doing tests tomorrow. My sister and other family are going to be with her, so I'm going to take a rest and stay home tonight. I'll share this with her tomorrow.

Wise, I've not been posting for a while, just read your post about your mom and niece. When it rains, it pours! I am so sorry to hear about you going through all this. You and your family are in my prayers. Hugs coming your way.

Mom's going in for a cath this morning. They're looking at primarily at her main artery. If they find significant blockage they will schedule her for a bypass. If they find a blockage (that's not significant?) they will put a stent in. If they do the stent, they said she'll have to take coumadin. She's not happy about that because she's heard all the wrong stuff about it when my brother was on it.

Hope all goes well with the cath this morning, Wise. You are all in our prayers.

Well, my mother had her cath this morning. No significant blockages were found. Her main artery was 38 - 44% blocked. This cardiologist said that she had a previous heart attack because of the scarring he found. His theory is that she may have had spasms that caused a blood clot, thus causing the heart attack. She being scheduled for an appointment with an electrophysiologist. She also has a blockage in her right leg that he wants to put a stent in maybe next week. She was released this afternoon and is home. It was good to see her at home, albeit still very tired and not feeling good. She was placed on plavix, novasc?, one of the statins (can't remember the name right now), and aspirin therapy. Thanks for your prayers and support friends.

Wise

Norvasc is a bp med. It was the first one I was ever on and it did a good job. Remind her to listen to her muscles because of the statin drug. Weakness/pain.

Glad to know she's home and going to get treatment. That's good news.

I, too, had a heart attack that was missed in our local ER, but found a few weeks later when I had treatment in a larger hospital where I eventually had bypass surgery. My brother's dr also said he has had a heart attack in the past but none of us, including brother, don't know anything about him having one. Guess they don't always find it. Perhaps she had a silent one?

Thanks for keeping us up to date and blessings to all of you. She's going to be ok now.
