Hello to all,

I had my consult with my surgeon this afternoon, and we talked about several things. First off, he is an awesome dude. His name is Dr. Todd Chapman, and he is pretty cool.
We talked about valve choice and coumadin,as well as other areas, which he was very positive about all the subjects.
The hospital here where he is going to conduct the surgery uses the St. Jude valve, but he told me if I wanted the On-X he would order it for me and use it instead.
I went with the On-X valve, which was a pretty easy choice after I weighed all the odds and did the research. The statistics on the On-X are pretty good, and according to several sites, it is at the top of the list.
We set a date of May 22, 2007 for surgery. I will be admitted on the 21st and have the surgery the next morning.
I'm a little nervous, but who's not when your are walking into the unknown. I put my full trust and faith in this surgeon, and hope that when it is all said and done, all goes well.
Again, I want to thank everyone here for the support and help. You have been a great deal of help so far. Each of you who has already made it over the mountain, I commend you and hope to join you soon.

Thanks,

Ranger

Knightfan and Karlynn,

Thank you for your thoughts and encouragment. I will try my best to keep you posted on how things go up to the day of surgery. After that I may need to get my wife or sister to post for me.
Thank you,

Congratulations on getting a date set. The time will go fast....and before you know it you will be on the other side of the mountain like us! From my perspective, this side is looking pretty good! I will be hoping for an uneventful surgery and recovery for you.

Glad you have a date and feel so confident and ready, ranger. I put you on the calendar for May 22nd and look forward to seeing you here on the other side of the mountain.

Congratulations on setting the date. It won't be long now. It's natural to be nervous but you sound ready and have a positive outlook which is half the battle. Best wishes for a safe and smooth journey over the mountain. I look forward to your update from the other side.
