Hello all!

I have been a long time reader on this site as my mom had mitral valve replacement in April, 2005. She had a pig tissue valve put in. It has been 19 and a half years! In the last few months she has developed severe aortic stenosis. She had been very symptomatic-dizzy spells, very weak. ( She is 84). On Tuesday of this week she had aortic valve replaced via TAVR. Wow that was a fast procedure! The surgeon came out after about 90 minutes! She is weak but already feels so much better. At some point she may need the mitral redone but the surgeon said they could go in the groin then too. She had it done at Research hospital in Kansas City. Just wanted to share her story in case anyone was interested. She's a pretty tough lady-just as all of you on here are!

I had an aortic valve replacement in November 2005. It lasted almost 19 years before it went bad. I just had a TAVR last Friday and what a
difference between then and now. No chest incision to worry about, no tube down your mouth during surgery and unbelievable recovering
time. I am 85 years old and must say TAVR is the way to go. I hope your mom feels as great as I do. Best wishes.

Thank you! That is exactly what she said! She is feeling so much better! Best wishes for your recovery as well!
