I hear you, Luana. The idea of breaking the sternum was just terrifying to me. Still is scary, but it's down a notch from terrifying since that bridge has now been crossed. Any way you cut it though (pun intended), recovering from a 3-inch incision vs a 10- or 11-inch incision is bound to be easier on the patient. My surgeon referred to it as minimally invasive, and it fit in with heartdoc's definition, so that's why I responded.

I guarantee you that I'll be doing more research as the time comes for the bovine valve to wear out; I'm hoping that they'll be able to do it telepathically at that point! :cool:
