Ruthie, if you have drug allergies, I would consider on getting one.
If there is time when you can't speak for yourself, your bracelet can.

All of those doc phone numbers, home/cell phone numbers, and my additional meds are on my file with Medic Alert.
They have a 24 hr phone service. No need to post it all on the bracelet.

My hubby, dear Bina, is over-cautious!! he wants the information to be very easy to find! Anyhow, it does not look bad as I was afraid it would.

Line by line Here is what I have on mine;

Full Name
MECHANCIAL AOR VALVE
ON WARFARIN INR 2.5
BP MEDS
ICE Dr. Tel number

You should be able to add PACE MKR

I have a gold medic alert bracelet and have actually gotten compliments about its appearance. It's amazing how much they can put on the back! I let them word it and they got in AVR, aneurysm repair, seizures, and takes coumadin. Very readable. I carry my card in my wallet and did get a car sticker.

I also have all my info online and like the sense of security it gives me.

Cheers,
Michelle

I feel like this is a dumb question- but I'm guessing there wouldn't be a need for this if you have a tissue valve and are not on a blood thinner............???
Just wondering.......I have several drug allergies, but never thought of doing it just for them.
I have a tissue valve, too. Even if I didn't have other problems I'd still have a medic alert warning of which device I have implanted. So many other things can go wrong besides clotting, for instance: endocarditis, a problem with the annulus or even dissection.

When medical services see a sternotomy scar most will guess it's there because of bypass surgery and may take longer in diagnosing a heart problem that could be caused by infection or even scar-related rhythm difficulties. Who will tell them otherwise if you're alone and unconcious?

Take Heart, you can purchase a medical warning bracelet at the dollar store and have it engraved at 15 cents a letter or so,
Pamela.

Reminder: It is a good idea to keep the bracelet or necklace on while swimming, bathing, and sleeping.
I just happen to know of a few people who had accidents or passing out episodes while in the bathroom or bedroom.
