Kris, that is awesome informaton for us to have, thanks for posting.

Kathy has a tissue valve, though, and that should not be any problem, I think it is the sternum wires as far as MRI is concerned, and the compression from the mammography equipment that she is worried about

I have scheduled for my breast MRI the second Tuesday in September. Will let you know how it goes. I'm not real thrilled about having another test being done but have no choice. Hopefully I don't have to do this test every year. The tech told me it was a 20 min test. I hope she's right I don't want to be in that tube for 45 mins. :(

Are you okay about laying on your stomach for 20 or 40 or however many minutes?
After my first OHS, I could not lay on my stomach for more than a few minutes. After my second, I now can. (My surgeon really listened to me when I told him how sore I still was from the first and worked magic on me when closing me the second time.)

Thanks again all! Chris I appreciate that important info! I will let everyone know just what I decided. Again, I guess I am building up a mental block with this, for some odd reason! Oh I forgot to mention I am claustrophobic, so this will be an open MRI.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Wow Chris! What great info. I haven't had my ohs yet, but I had actuallly wondered about this when thinking about the option of a mechanical valve. MRI's are such excellent diagnostic tools. If you think you look stupid with your spelling, then you are in good company...sometimes I groan after reading mine and realinzing I'd goofed something up.

P.S. Hey Ross, maybe similar posts/info like this exist already somewhere, but this I think deserves a sticky or gold star or whatever y'all do here for a really good post that others might want to reference. Keep working on getting your wife into getting a mammogram. I know so many women with breast cancer - including my mother and my aunts nd the ones who caught it earlier are the ones still with us.
