I come here to help people and to learn, and while I support the idea of argument being: a discussion and needing to justify a proposition, for some argument is just a back and forth which descends into did to : did not : did tooo mobius strip.

This is of course what a troll does. If it looks like a troll, smells like a troll then avoid it. Often this isn't easy because they call you out by name to attempt to drag you into their pit. Sadly this is a fact of internet life.

So when this happens the easiest way to not get sucked into that dumpster fire with them, is to use the very convenient tools found in VR : the ignore button.

It can easily be found by clicking the name of the offending person and a dialog box appears, click ignore...

Then you can just walk on by that trouble as if you were in a different place

and your visits here will be more pleasant and you can focus on why you came here; IE helping people who actually request help or discuss where discussion was requested.

Best wishes

Putting someone on ignore and requesting a community to do the same is "shunning." There's a book on shunning called the Scarlet Letter. You should read it.

I never put someone on Ignore, since "even a blind hog can find an acorn once in a while." Plus it's rude to ignore people. The polite thing is to read and respond with caution and only if needed.

I’ve only ever put one person on ignore here and that was when things were getting too politically charged and the individual in question was making for too many character judgments about people on very little information. I was sick of hearing about it and didn’t want to respond anymore. Now that politics seemed to have died down around here, I’ll probably take them off the list because normally they are a reasonable contributor.

I've pulled people out of the sin bin before (when they've cleaned up), but to be honest I don't come here to socialise with people (but I don't mind doing so) and have found it a way to reduce my irritations and just focus on the core. One can check what people are up to with the replies of others quoting them for one sees "ignored content" and it allows you to take off the veil and see.

So far none of those I've put in in the last few years have made me feel I'm missing anything. Perhaps you are less down that spectrum than me.

Naturally YMMV

I haven't found a spot on that desirable list yet.

Pellicle's suggestion may well have been triggered recently by involving myself in the discussion over whether 2 times more is the same as 2 times as much. And even though I believe that I'm right, common usage says it wrong and people accept the wrong usage.

This has little to do with the actual words - it became an issue when one of us here said that an INR of 2.0 means that it takes two times LONGER to clot.

From here, it devolved.

I'll try to avoid this kind of back and forth, in order to stay off too many Ignore lists.

firstly you aren't on the list, and trust me that thread is simply amusing to me.

No there are far more distasteful posters than you mate, people who go about snidely attacking members (and even decide to lash out and make bad remarks about senior respected members here who are actually purely gentlmen.

As to your assertion you have not ever even once clarified how two times longer clotting time is wrong for INR = 2. The other point about twice as much vs 2 times as much is like 12 is different to a dozen.
